S. Lewis' books, and I love the parts that resound with me; I think that resounding is simply telling me what I know already, though perhaps in different words or a clearer way. And as to the boys...each is on a computer, diligently looking up jokes that mostly begin with, "Your mom is so fat," and end in laughter as they share their findings with one another. What kind of society are we to degrade those who carried us and nursed us and (in their case) continue to care for all our needs? Why, oh why, is it funny to compete with other kids to see who can demean the other the most? I am sorely tempted to ask them if their mom is fat, and why it's funny to talk about her, and don't they love her? But I'm restraining myself. Not sure if I should be restraining myself, but there you have it.

  Done ranting for the day,

      Audrey-without-a-spacebar

Home Sweet Home

Dear ones,

I have just finished at least an hour's worth of reading, perusing all the Xanga entries you have written in the past month or two, and my heart is full. The truth of God's Word rings true: "Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another," and I definitely feel sharpened. Thank you for sharing the truths you've learned, for expressing your thoughts and emotions, for being transparent and allowing me to see Jesus through you and working in you. I am blessed.

Wayne and I have moved into our apartment in Jacksonville, and he has officially left me the lonely military wife yet once again. He reported in to the School of Infantry yesterday around lunchtime, and oh how I've missed him since! :) But God is faithful, and I am so thankful I don't have to fear for his life or safety in any way, I know I will see him soon, and I am confident in his love and faithfulness. So hardships, come away!

If boot camp was "quilt camp" for me, then I believe that this new period will be "writing camp." Big Mommie's book must be written, and now's the time. I'm scared silly and floating aimlessly, but press on I will. Pray for me. :)

Love to you all. You are in my prayers.

Missing my Love

But happy.

God has been so faithful. You guys just can't even imagine. But these last few weeks have been a huge learning curve too. Man.

So Wayne's doing well. Has a cold or bronchitis, so pray that gets better. And hurt his knee, so pray for that too. He misses me. :)

I'm working at the TCC Writing Center, at least until finals are over with. Then it may end up being TCBY. But I'm still hoping for Dillard's.

We need to do Sewing Circle.

~ Audrey ~

PS If you want to get Wayne updates, give me your e-mail address.

Well, friends!

I have officially spent over 3 hours online today, and I am ready to get off the computer. However, the good news is that I whittled my Inbox from probably 75 e-mails down to 30, and actually wrote a few good notes. I checked a few important items I needed to check, and started my search for a place to stay during Wayne's graduation. Yay for accomplishment!

So, Wayne has officially been gone 10 days. Today I received not one, but TWO letters from him. God is good, and so is my husband! Apparently he wasn't allowed to mail anything out until Tuesday, but he snuck a note (happened to be the second one he'd written) into a form letter they had to send. So I got Letter #2 yesterday with the form letter, and Letters #1 & #3 today. I feel officially caught-up and connected, and exuberantly in love with a certain soon-to-be-Marine!

Job hunting is going well. I officially have 14 hours per week in the TCC Writing Center, starting Monday, plus whatever papers I can manage to nab & grade, so that'll give me 15-20 hours per week, I'm guessing. I'd still like to do something else, but we'll see what I can come up with. Haven't found any good OPS jobs, tried applying at Publix & still waiting, and not sure what else to look for. If you hear of anything, let me know! I'm definitely open to suggestion.

To avoid wasting more of your precious time on the computer, I will continue this update at a later time.....

    ~ Audrey ~

PS I'm glad to be back in the world of technology, in spite of all its MANY frustrations. :)

Counting down the days

So, only two and a half weeks until Wayne & I head south. We'll be in Pennsylvania for about 2 weeks, and then he'll leave for boot camp. 13 weeks without my husband....life sounds pretty lonely. But God is good, and I'm sure all my dear friends in Florida will entertain me and distract me. :)

My mom & brothers went to Boston this week, toured a Navy destroyer and the USS Constitution, walked the Freedom Trail, and generally enjoyed themselves. Meanwhile, Dad & I held down the fort in Crawford Notch. Dad finished building all the picnic tables and stained the porch, while I stayed inside and froze and watched the register. Weird thing though; while my family was walking the crosswalk, someone yelled, "Hey! Crawford Notch people! What are you doing?" So they turned around and saw one of our regular campers who hasn't been here this year yet. Crazy.

Feels like I'm rambling, so I'd better quit while I'm ahead. Ciao.

Happy Lord's Day!

God is good.....all the time!

My Excuses

1. I tried to log on and for some reason couldn't remember my new password. I tried the old one, only to remember that Xanga had prompted a password change recently, and I couldn't remember what I'd changed it to!

2. We had 72 sites (out of 94) rented on a SUNDAY. Unheard-of.

3. Wayne has joined the Marines.

4. My subscriptions are e-mailed daily; thus I forget to log on at all.

5. I like personal e-mails much better (though I'm not much better at them).

So, all that to say, I'm back too. :) But like Alicia, I must run now and leave you to wonder what (and when) I will write next!

The whirlwind...

...that is my life.

:D

This week has been really full, with lots of familiar faces plus new ones galore. We've had 4:00 a.m. wake-ups with campers wanting to "let you know" that there were snorting sounds around their tent, dogs without rabies papers who are preventing their owners from entering (which apparently is a monumentally horrific event), bears whose backs are chest-high wandering near the beaver pond, and camp workers who oversleep alarms and rush around in a joint effort to open on time. Ah, the life of the campground.

In other news....there is no other news.

My feet hurt...

...but it's totally worth it. Wayne & I are at Crawford Notch General Store & Campground in Harts Location, NH -- the coolest campground ever, by the way -- with my family, and it's a BLAST. :D This weekend we're 75 % full or so, and each successive weekend is fuller still.

Alicia & I talked today, and Emily called me Sunday, but I realized this morning that I have been extremely out of the loop and uncommunitive. I miss my girls!

No bears or moose yet, but several people saw some young moose killed on the road, and Mom said she saw two grown ones this morning at 4:30 when she had to meet the dairy man to pick up our milk order. Relearning the reservation and check-in processes, plus the register, the lay of the land, and so many other things is quite a full task, but Wayne & I are picking it all up quickly.

Last week some of Mom's homeschooling connections came to visit, and we are now all fast friends. Late nights of The Broom Game, Brad Stine, talking, Age of Empires, and who knows what else, plus great meals cooked for each other, similar views on family life, interesting new perspectives, etc., made for a great week. Hopefully we'll see them all again soon.

Right now some camper is having difficulty managing our gate, and we're enjoying watching them through our security camera, so ta-ta.

Pirates!
