| The past weekTo begin on a sad note, I'm asking your prayers for the Winn family. A 19-year-old girl that came to our religion class on Thursday nights passed away this past Sunday from complications with epilepsy. Her family does not know the Lord, but the last class she attended was about sin, why we need a Savior, and what Christ did for us. I pray that she chose to believe before God took her, and that He used the class to bring her to Him before she went. Pray that God can use some of us from the class to minister to her family and that He will bring them to Him through this.
On a brighter tone, the 4th of July Pallock get-together was absolutely awesome! It began a little rough with Tim & Vanessa and the boys getting stuck for several hours about 4 hours south of us because the car wouldn't start, but even in that situation God was working. Peter was only a couple hours south of them coming up the same highway from Texas, so he was able to help them get the car going. He even ended up sending them on with his car when theirs died again - what a brother! Steve, Micah, Melissa & I ended up driving down for a late-night trip to pick him up when he couldn't get the car going - what a blast! At least the trip down was - I crashed on the way back up since I'd only had 4 hours of sleep the night before (Steve stood guard at the church's fireworks tent and I just don't sleep well when he isn't there ). Dad, Tim & Peter drove down to get the car Friday and made it back just in time for a big fireworks show in front of Steve's parents' house. No one got hurt, even if we did have some attack "ladybugs" that went sideways instead of up in the air and the launcher didn't work on one of Annie's mortar shells so it exploded inside the tube in the street (eep!).
Saturday we spent the day playing, eating, and of course a few of us took a trip to the mall. Sister time! (Steve & Micah valiantly tagged along - hehe). The nephews entertained us constantly, from Nathan's enthusiastic "Da...deeeeeee!" to Cody's adorable little "Chees!" (no e, there - hehe). Lots of pictures from Micah (and a few from Mom) to follow - thanks, bro! Mom, Dad, Lydia, Andrew, Tim, Vanessa, Nathan & Seth were able to stay through Sunday so after church we did another big lunch and then hung out and mostly played on the computer in the afternoon. Got to use the big bubble wand that I bought with Nathan outside (sorry, Cody, I forgot til Sunday ). I love little kids!!! So, all in all, the weekend was an absolute blast
And, I must note that I have the most patient and wonderful husband. He's making lunch for me right now but since I was the one who decided where to put all the stuff in the kitchen (and most of you know that means there was no rhyme or reason) he's having to ask me where things are - without a bit of irritation, I might add

| Kansas storms......what an awe-inspiring picture of a small part of God's power! We are experiencing high winds, almost constant lightning, rumbling thunder, and hail. It also makes me think of God's care for us - all this is being viewed from the safety of our cosy living room, with not the slightest danger to us personally. How awesome is our God! | | |
| Still alive...Steve & I started classes at the end of August at Friends University. Our class on Monday nights has been English Composition so we've been writing either a two-page or four-page paper every week. Haven't felt like composing much else I'll see if I can get an update on the past few months on here sometime

| Country StampedeI've been hearing advertisements on the radio (KZSN 102.1, Kissin' Country - hehe) for Country Stampede, and several people whose names I recognize will be there. Alan Jackson, Big & Rich, Phil Vassar, Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Little Big Town, Rodney Atkins, and several others. I was thinking it'd be cool to go but didn't think much of it cause I figured it'd be fairly expensive. Well, last night at Bible Study one of the dads said someone had given him 2 tickets for Sunday night and they aren't into "cowboy music". He'd prolly be shocked if he knew what kind of music it really was and we took the tickets LOL Anyways, Steve & I are going to hear Phil Vassar and Gary Allan Sunday evening June 24th. I love living in Country country! Er... something like that In other news, I was sitting at a light just before lunch and heard this "boom" and my car rocked. It took me a few seconds to realize someone had just rear-ended my car. I got out and looked and there was no damage at all to our car or the front bumper of the older gentleman's minivan behind me. He rolled down his window and asked if I was ok, then said he was sorry and I (probably unwisely) said there was no damage and it was fine, then drove off. My neck and back have been a little sore from the jarring but a good night's sleep will prolly fix that. So, what adventures have you run into lately? Or am I taking them all? | | |
| Vacation Day 4Sunday morning we slept in, then cleaned up the cabin and packed up the car. The caretaker was gone by the time we left (late, as is my custom - hehe) so we left her a note and check and went back to the cabin to take a little more video. We arrived in the Denver area just as the Olson's were getting out of church, so we met Alicia & Jen at the house and Kim arrived a few minutes later. When Mr. & Mrs. Olson and Kara Lee arrived we took off for Casa Bonita. Pretty cool place! They have little shows (big gorilla, diver, etc) on a stage on the first floor, and we ate on the 2nd floor. After lunch Steve & I went to the photography studio and dressed up in old western clothes and props for a picture, then we all walked around for a bit. They have different decor for each of the eating areas (jungle, mine shaft, and stuff like that). We headed to the Olson's house around 3 PM and played Apples to Apples - what a blast! The game can be hilarious when you play it with the right people, and we sure did We left for Nebraska about an hour later and about 20 minutes outside of Cheyenne, WY, Dawn called and asked if we wanted to meet at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Yeah! They gave us approximate directions (not being there themselves yet), and after figuring out that we got off on the wrong exit we pulled up in front of a hotel and Steve used the wireless signal to bring up a Google map and print it to a pdf file on the computer (geeks we definitely are LOL). Yummy dinner, fun sister and brother-in-law and adorable nephew - how can it get better? We arrived at their house around 10 PM and pretty much went to sleep. Monday we hung around and played with Cody in the morning. The last two pictures display what Cody thought of his uncle Steve - he would just watch him until Steve made a face or talked to him, then Cody would just grin and grin!
then Steve & I made lasagna for lunch. We played Nertz after lunch - yay! Haven't played that in forever. It's a little slow when you play with 2 teams but we had fun and Dan & Dawn won. After that we went downstairs where it was cooler and played Mille Bornes and Steve & I won (by 25 points - hehe). David Clement called that morning and asked if we wanted to come over for dinner and games, so we headed over just before 6 PM. There were 2 other couples and a few kids to play with - that was fun. I got to put Cody to sleep after dinner; there is nothing like the feeling of a sleeping baby on your shoulder. When we got home we watched The Pink Panther with Steve Martin. Pretty funny! Tuesday morning we packed up the car and took off around 11:30 AM. A while down the road we stopped for lunch at a pizza hut, then drove on. We ran into some heavy rain for a while but Steve did a great job driving through it. I got some Arby's mozzarella sticks and potato cakes for dinner while Steve got fuel, then I drove for a while. We switched off once more and Steve drove the rest of the way home while I slept off and on. We got home about 11 PM. End of vacation | | |
