Still alive

Nathan sitting in his Bumbo seat

Nathan and I are doing really well, though I'm getting more and more tired as the weeks go by.  Nathan just will not sleep in his cot, and I can only get him asleep in the bassinet after his 3 am feed.  Otherwise he sleeps in my arms, in the baby carrier, or in bed with me.  Andrew and I never intended to co-sleep with Nathan, but it is the only way we can get any sleep.  I have tried everything I can think of, or has been suggested to me (with the exception of controlled crying, which I don't want to do) and nothing works.  I'm just hoping that things will improve as Nathan gets older, after all he's not quite 3 months old yet.  All this means I have very little time to sit down to the computer to write anything.

My grandmother is also very sick, so after our trip down south to show Nathan off to the family, Nathan and I went back to see my grandmother again for what is most likely the last time.   Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I've had to do.

Gosh, Chris, so much to cope with.. Nathan's gorgeous! What a little sweetie! These pics are lovely.

Really, really sorry to hear about your grandmother - I hope she surprises you all and makes a recovery, but if not, I hope she isn't suffering

He has grown so much and he has the sweetest face.  I adore the picture of Nathans tiny hands in his great-grandmas, that is a picture to treasure. I hope she makes a recovery and is able to get to know her newest great grandchild for many years to come.

I wish I had some stellar advice about the sleeping thing but my first kid kept us awake for at least the first six months, we were both more resembling stumbling zombies than parents of a newborn. Hope it gets better sooner rather than later.

Nathan is so precious. I'm sorry you're not getting any rest. And I'm sorry your grandmother is ill. I hope that things work out with the sleep issues. My oldest had them. I finally let him do the controlled crying. It was hard, but within a week he was sleeping in his own bed. He was almost a year old by the time I got the courage to do it. I wish I hadn't waited... Take care of you!

I hope he starts to let you get some sleep soon... it must be very tiring for you.

It would have been very hard to say goodbye to your Grandma. *hugs*

My advice is whatever gets you sleep well then stick with that.  When you're a bit more rested you'll have time to consider other sleeping options.

Hang in there

My son who is 17 now slept with us all the time as a little one and I really worried about it. A wise old friend said just do what you have to do and remember that you dont find a teenager in bed with their parents.....She was right our boy stopped sleeping with us eventually. Now I miss it I wish he would snuggle with his mother. Good luck with it all
