Name: Joshua
Birthday: 10/6/1984
Gender: Male

Interests: I like lots of things, and I've tried lots of things, but here are a few that have become lasting: spending time with people I love, photography, muscle cars, and making sense. If there is anything I truly do not like, it is being touched without warning, in any way, shape or form, and people that do not make sense.
Expertise: I'm no expert at anything...but I try my best to live life in a way that is both fulfilling and useful. In this, I have achieved some skills: I play guitar, read a lot, know enough about most electronic things to take them apart (but not put them back together), drive authoritateively, fix mechanical things for fun, take some ok pictures, and finally, love those who take the time to befriend me with a love that is fierce beyond my own power.

Why I'll never go to Angelina's Cigar ever again.

So yesterday, Eric and I stopped in to buy a cigar at Angelino's after picking up some parts we needed for the stompboxes we're building.

So, we walked inside, and the middle-aged guy behind the counter greeted us as we walked into the humidor room.

I looked around and found one that looked suitable--the employee was watching us like a hawk through the window--so I pulled one from the box and removed it from its wrapper to check its quality.

At this point, the guy walked into the room and in a sarcastic voice said, "Hey, I'd appreciate if you wouldn't remove those from the wrapper."

So I spoke my apologies and put it back in the wrapper. He then asked us what we were looking for, and I asked him if he had any suggestions.

He said, "Well, it looks like you just bought one right there," then turned to Eric and began to offer the suggestions I asked for.

Needless to say, I'm not ever planning on returning to this place, not only due to the reprehensible service, but because of its apparent policy of you-touch-you-buy for cigar shoppers.

I can understand a need to preserve the integrity of their stock, but it's always advisable to check a cigar before you purchase it. In fact, I would not have chosen the one I did--it was somewhat misshapen.

However, I purchased it and left. It'd be nice to see a new shop open to compete with them...one that holds to traditional etiquette.

Finally...

Well, now that a vital piece of mail has arrived at its destination, I'm finally free to mention the biggest recent development on my faithful, yet oft-neglected little blog.

I'm engaged! To Ruthie! Whee!

I didn't really show much online enthusiasm for this change in relationship status...but outwardly, I think it's been obvious. I know we're both really excited about the whole thing. We just chose a date that we think will work and we're working on some save-a-dates right now...

Wedding planning will be insane, but I'm not too worried about it...the plan is for a really chill event

Sorry for making you wait so long for that picture of the ring, Abbie...

--------------------

Christmas is coming, and I've got all my gifts at least chosen. It's pretty cool to be ahead of the game this year...even with the difficulty of fitting everything in my backpack for the flight home.

I'm really excited about seeing Jesse and Allyson...and having Ruthie around with the family again.

That's pretty much it.

I don't think I can express effectively enough how much I wish I could afford an iPod. My first-gen Shuffle quit two months ago, and I've decided that I might as well go for one of the big ones, just because the space would be useful.

Who knows...maybe in a few months...

Date Night...

So the other day, Eric and I asked each other why we haven't taken our respective ladies out on a double date yet.

Last night we found out why.

Eric's car had its window broken out and Leilani's purse was stolen.

However, Ratatoulle (?) was GREAT!
