  • iPod video: dead

My 80gb iPod video just died.
It'd been a bit quirky starting last week.
    And now it's gone.
I'll swing by Best Buy tonight to see if my PRP is still active and will cover it.

Why at the beginning of a shift?

  • escapades

I'll be heading off to DC for an Intellectual Property law conference on Wednesday.
Not long after I'll be shooting down to Mexico for an RCPM show.

I bought myself a Canon g9 to better document these adventures.

  • Nora

I've finally gotten my big story proofread sufficiently (at least for web posting, when my second book is nearing completion it'll get a thorough proofread again).

    The story is called Nora.
It can be read in html or pdf.
I'm very enthusiastic.  I think it is very good (I'm biased).  But I know it is very long and it'll only be read from front to back with some measure of commitment.  If you read for 5 or 10 minutes maybe the commitment won't be a hard thing to do.

  • Ein Mann lässt sich in der Öffentlichkeit von einer Frau verprügeln, die nur halb so groß und halb so schwer ist. A man can be in the public slog of a woman who is only half as big and half as heavy. Er zieht danach keinen Krummdolch aus dem Mantel sondern freut sich wie ein Schnitzel, dass er es zumindest durchgestanden hat. He then pulls no Krumm dagger from the mantle but is looking forward like a cutlet that he at least durchgestanden. Diese Haltung würde man sich auf den Straßen von Berlin-Neukölln häufiger wünschen. This position would be on the streets of Berlin-Neukölln frequent desire.

    Germans are awesome.
  • Grado SR60s

Thanks to Patrick Norton's Tekzilla podcast I'm currently wearing Grados SR60 headphones.
In anticipation for the arrival of the new, classy headphones I started ripping my CDs at 256kbps.
This is quite a leap from the earbuds I've been sporting for the past few years.

Some songs don't really sound much better, others are almost revelatory.
I think it was a sensible investment.

  • word of the day: fulgurate

I get to learn a variety of strange words at this job.
    Though I haven't decoded G0 P0 yet, I did learn fulgurate.

Alright, fulgurate means either to flash or dart like lightning OR my more favored definition: to destroy by electricity.

So I ask of you, try to find a place in your life to use this word.  I think you'll get a chance.

  • huzzah

    stevenlong.net has been re-upped for 9 years.
    quite a commitment.

    my life in a quote:
"During law school, school would eat all the time I would give it.  If I wanted to do anything else I'd have to hold school's needs at bay.  Now I work.  Now life fills every nook, every cranny.  Now life expands and devours.  It's kinda nice."

  • the writing of my biggest (and hopefully best) story has just concluded
next is the tedious process of taking it from handwriting to wordprocessor (which includes a shallow proofreading)
then a major proofread (as I don't want people getting hung up on little errors)

I'm kinda nervous, in that I really want people to enjoy it, read it and hopefully I'll get some feedback

    hope everyone is well
