Name: Michael
Gender: Male

Interests: Life is way to short to not enjoy many things. But sure I have some favorites, the first being NASCAR. Its not the redneck sport everyone thinks. But if enjoying it makes me a redneck, that certainly isn't the worst thing I've been called! I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, ect... I've always been a legal nut, doing just about anything I can to keep in the law enforcement field. Convienent since I now work in that field. I like my collection of guns, enjoy working with my hands. I love to read, enjoy movies, have to watch A&E the First 48, Prison Break, and a few videos on CMT. Politics has always interested me even if I don't always understand what I'm talking about.
Expertise: Don't know that I'd qualify as an expert on anything yet. I was a pretty good weapons troop in the service. Not much demand for that on the outside, thought. I'm a decent cook. Enjoy singing, even though most in done in the car or shower.

Where did the time go?!

So, I just realized it has been forever since I even was on Xanga, let alone post anything.  So here I am, after spending a very long day yesterday at the range (my shooting sucked by the way) and a rather sleepless night.  I have to work on a few reports, then take a nice nap, then off to work again....

We have had the best weather here in Phx the last few weeks.  It has been a little hot during the day still, breaking records for November, so a little cooler weather will be nice, but the evenings have been absolutely beautiful.  Seriously, if you have never been to Phx or AZ for that matter, make plans to come visit.  I'll make sure you get to experience it.  Great times!!

Off for that nap....

Just some random thoughts

Today is such a perfect day.  We just had a great thunderstorm that cleared the air and cooled things down.  I love thunderstorms.  Of course, the part that sucks is having to run down to the truck and stepping in a huge puddle.  So now my socks are wet and my feet are freezing but for some reason I'm in such a good mood!  And hopefully, this night at work, we'll just have a nice slow night.  I procrastinate way to much and always end up falling behind on reports. So when I should have been sleeping today, I was up writing reports.  But the good news is at least I'm caught up know!

I need a big cup of coffee and some motivation! The weather makes me feel lazy and I have to work until 5am!

March Already!!

Ok, maybe I'm just getting old, but doesn't it seem like time is just flying by?  It seems like we just had a new years party, and the cold January weather.. now here we are ready to start Spring.  And of course, that next birthday keeps creeping up faster and faster.

But I guess the bright side is that this has been such a great year so far.  I learned a lot, met some good friends, and enjoyed some good times.  Now I just need to keep on top of the homework and reports from work.

So that's my entry for today.. short sweet and I'm so ready for a nap... Later!!

Makes you think

I was at work the other day when an ambulance drove past on the way to the hospital.  Just a few seconds later, a police car, then another, then an ambulance supervisor sped past all running code.  I made some comment to my partner about somebody deciding to die.  How little did I know that "somebody" was a brother.  A Glendale police officer had been shot in the head just 5 blocks away from us while conducting a traffic stop.  Sobered us up pretty quick.

My job is just that.  I make traffic stops. All day long.  And at every stop, I try to remind myself that the person in that car just might want to kill me.  Simply because of what I do.  Makes you think. And I have to be kind and professional, but ready to kill.  So if you get stopped and the officer seems a little distrusting, and tends to keep his hand near his gun, don't take offense.  Just remember, his goal is to go home to his family at night, and while he may have just stopped you for a simple violation, he doesn't know what harm you might want to cause him.

Officer Holly was killed over expired registration.  Makes you think.  Rest in peace, my brother.  You've been called home.  Keep guard over the gates of heaven and we'll continue the work you did so faithfully and well down here.  We'll meet again when our time comes.

You're Cool, wanna smoke?

So, I'm sitting at a little hamburger place on Friday, and this guy sitting at the table next to me was a little intoxicated and struck up a conversation with me.  We had a decent talk which covered the topics of immigration, women, and everything else important to mankind.  Then came the unexpected invite.... "So, you seem pretty cool, wanna come over and burn some herb with me?"  Me being the kind person I am explained that, while tempting, I really couldn't, you know only little things like the law and my job are kinda important to me   The waitress waited till he left then came over and asked it she had heard him right.... Yep she did... poor dude would have crapped himself if he knew he had just ask a cop over for a joint!!   Thought it was pretty funny.
