The Gospel (Special Edition)

GREAT story of the prodigal son.  LOVED the black gospel music, especially Yolanda Adams.  If I went to a church like New Revelations I'd weigh 50 lbs. less...Aerobics for Jesus!

What movies are you watching these days?

Hey, we experienced the 100th Circleville Pumpkin Show...WOW.  Recipes included:

  • Pumpkin Chili
  • Pumpkin Burgers
  • Pumpkin Waffles
  • Pumpkin Cheesecake
  • Pumpkin Funnelcake
  • Pumpkin  Pizza

We also witnessed the WORLD'S LARGEST PUMPKIN PIE........14 feet in diameter!!  As we were marching down main st. there was a mantra of a drum beat ("pumpkin-pumpkin-pumpkin").  I felt like we'd joined the Pumpkin Cult and we were worshipping the Great Pumpkin God!  It was surreal.

Contentment

From Shawn McDonald's blog  www.myspace.com/shawnmcdonald

"Sometimes I feel as if we seek for comfort like it is something that we need. Our culture teaches us that comfort brings us happiness. If I just had this one thing that would make my life a little easier, then I would be doing all right. Life continues to get & easier. With technology of today, we live in a world that caters to our comfort. Whatever makes you happy, right or wrong is the driving force. We are hands down the most spoiled country there is. We have everything.

I then have to ask, Why is everyone so unhappy? Why is there no peace? Is comfort really what we need? How often do you meet a person that has much and is content with what he or she has? It is so rare! Most, only want more. We buy into this lie of success as if our lives depended on it. Believing that life is greener on the other side of the fence. Lusting after all that is not ours.

Now I have traveled a bit in my life and have found that people with little to no comfort are some of the happiest people I have ever meet. They tend to be grateful with what they have and just thankful to be alive. They somehow have found the value of life.

Now dont take me wrong on all this. Cause I am by no way saying this is law or that success is bad or am I telling you to go throw your self from comfort just for the sake of doing so. More so, I am saying that there might be something wrong with ones heart. I say this only, to hopefully turn you from a lie that will leave you broken and bruised and very empty in side. A lie that I have bought many times, and have learned from my miss doings. I also know that lessons are not away what we want but sometimes what we need. There is a lesson to be learned. To be still and to learn Contentment for what and who we are. I believe that is the true way to real comfort. Comfort and contentment is not something we have but more so who we are."

Thanks, Shawn, for reminding us of our MANY blessings.  Lord, we believe - help our unbelief.

FUNNIEST thing in the world!  We just lef the Mansfield movie theatre after watching CARS the movie.

We were walking out and a short, stocky woman with a baseball cap said the most classic, quotable line...

"Oh, my stomach...it feels like the DAY AFTER THE STATE FAIR."   oh my gosh!  I will never forget that one.
