Troop Surge

One of my friends wrote a blog in support of the troop surge.  I'm reposting the comments because I found them interesting.  I'd like to know what your opionion on the topic is.

Me- I'm against the troop surge. Sending more troops will not accomplish any thing but the loss of more American lives. This is not a normal war we are fighting the insurgents will not give up just because of the increased American forces. The war in Iraq is like Humpty Dumpty all the kings horses and all the kings men can't put back together the egg we broke.

Joe- So WE should give up?
Did you read my blog?

Me- yes I read it and we should give up and admit failure

Michael Dykes (United States Army) wrote

You’re right even though you don't realize how Lisa. We, I should say I, am fighting insurgents, not season and war tested soldiers. We can not approach this asymmetrical warfare in the same manner we would a "normal" war. In a normal war, the other side has leaders that are smart enough and not blinded be zeal to know when to give up. To know when it is hopeless and it would be better for the citizens of his country to give up. What we are fighting is a disease. A virus that doesn't care how many die so long as one of my fellow soldiers dies too. A group of people so blinded be zeal that they will kill themselves and others if it means one more American death. This is not as stupid as it sounds. The puppet masters here are quite smart and no just how to hit us. They know that they cannot beat us physical. So they attack us mentally. The are trying to cause the American people to stir up enough trouble that we pull out, and only add to our shame and their zeal. Do you think that they will leave us alone and go back to their intertribal jihads? No, they will come after us again emboldened by their victory. We are not trying to rebuild the egg. On the contrary, the egg we shattered was quite rotten and would do no one any good by being rebuilt. We are trying to kill off this virus. A virus that is hampering the Iraqi people from having a government of their choosing. And until every last one is dead, they will keep coming back. It is like trying to protect you brothers and sisters as they build a sand castle while other kids hate you and will stop at nothing to destroy what you are trying to protect. The Iraqi people want us around for the safety we provide. Only a small number want us to leave. Unlike back home, I am sorry to say. You think we have failed? Not so. We have eliminated the evil tyrannical regime that tortured and murdered its people, we have set in motion a new government, and we are safeguarding your home from these. People. If we don't fight them in the bloody sandbox, we will be forced to fight them in your backyard, in my backyard, at a time and place of their choosing. The more troops we have over there, the quicker we will exterminate them, the fewer men will be lost, and we will come home all the sooner. You ask me to turn around, tuck my tail between my legs and shuffle home in shame because you believe I have failed in my job. I only ask for your support and for the tools with which to safeguard my family and friends. I can do the rest.

I skiped all Phantom of the Opera and Rent lyrics cause Jackie would have gotten them right away

Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on shuffle, and play.
Step 2: Write down the first line from the first 20 songs that play or close to it.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from. NO GOOGLING THE LYRICS!
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

  1. Honey why are you calling me so late
  2. Oh, we're sinking like stones
  3. Listen when I say,
    When I say it's real.
  4. Pearls that swim the rift of me
Long and weary my road has been
  5. Go 'way from my window,
Leave at your own chosen speed.
  6. It's understood, and said in many ways
  7. Maybe in another life
    I could find you there
  8. I can’t stand to fly
    I’m not that naive
  9. As I recall with my stomach turning
I was hiding away from myself, away from you
  10. Everybody knows where you go when the sun goes down.
  11. It's that feeling that someone is standing behind you
then I turn around and there's no one there.
  12. Watch your mouth
    Oh, oh, oh
  13. Faint white figures paint my sleep
please don't tell my secrets keep them hidden
  14. Everyday is a new day
    I'm thankful for every
    breath i take
  15. Memories, sharp as daggers
Pierce into the flesh of today
  16. Could you whisper in my ear
    The things you wanna feel
  17. I never, said I'd lie and wait forever
  18. Can you feel your heartbeat racing?
  19. Got a picture of you I carry in my heart
  20. Who can say where the road goes,
Where the day flows, only time?

I am so shocked I got a 5 on the AP world test and a 4 on English and I only took one semester of AP Lang.  I'm having soo much fun now at Harding and I know now that I really want to go to Harding definitly for college.  So I'm signing up to go on a trip to Greece next June so if they have room it will mean that I will miss graduation which sad but I rather go to Greece.  Oh and the band that I've been totaly obsessed with is HIM the lead singer is like the hottest person ever eventhough he looks like a girl.  What makes him really hott is that he is finnish like me I'm 25% and and most of my mom's side of the family lives in Finland.  Miss you all XOXOXOX
