It's a beautiful chilly fall morning.

I had my favorite cold weather breakfast...Cream of Wheat with raisins in it.  That goes way back to my childhood when my mother made smiley faces in raisins on top of our Cream of Wheat.  My brother still has to have raisins in it, too.

I decided to take my coffee and sit out back.  Yeah, it's kind of cold, but it's an invigorating cold, not a run for any source of warmth cold.

I almost felt like I was on some coffee commercial, my coffee was steaming so.

I sat out there for about 15 minutes enjoying my coffee and watching and listening to the squirrels and watching the leaves finally falling off the oak trees.  I even had to deflect a leaf so it wouldn't fall into my coffee.

The squirrels are very entertaining.  We have a huge population of them in our backyard.  When you walk out the back door, you can see about a dozen scramble for the trees.

The squirrels are very chatty this morning.  I heard far more squirrels than I did birds.  And watching the squirrels chasing one another around and around the big oaks was mesmerizing.

My little morning outing ended when the next door neighbor's cat walked into the yard and sent the squirrels way up into the trees.  But by then, my coffee was starting to get cold.

I have to do this more often.  It's a great way to start the day.

I'm caving under pressure!

I said I would never do it.

But I'm weak and susceptible to pressure from Marna.  Yeah...I'll blame it ALL on her!

Most of our neighborhood is decorated for Christmas. It's November....BUT it is after Thanksgiving.  So not as bad as it could be.

I have never decorated before December 1st.  But as I've written, people are decorating earlier and earlier.

We bought a new tree for the den last year after Christmas along with a 'half-tree' that hangs on a wall. Marna kept asking to put them up.  I kept her at bay for a few days, but yesterday I succumbed to the pressure.

I told her I would put up the den tree, if she was willing to string the lights. She did it! And the basement tree was so easy to light....it took me all of 5 minutes.

So, the Christmas decorations have begun.......and it's still November.

I'm a pushover...

Marna's jacket has been hanging on the back of a living room chair since she came home from a party on Friday night.

For once, it wasn't because she neglected to hang it in the coat closet.  It's there because she asked me to sew one button back on and to sew the rest of the buttons tighter.

I asked her to put it there so I would remember to do it.

I hate sewing so badly.....even just sewing buttons, that I'd rather have that jacket on the back of the chair than have my living room neat and tidy.

And I don't think that even conveys how much I hate sewing.

But I need to tackle it tonight.

Must psyche myself up!!!!

What a mistake.

Mike needed new jeans.  I wanted a new tripod.

We went shopping.

Oh...my...God.

You might have thought it was Black Friday and Christmas Eve all rolled into one!

It was insane!

I've always loved the Christmas hustle and bustle.  But this is too early, for me, to feel like the Christmas season.

This is my second post in a row about rushing Christmas.

I think I've officially become an old fart.

It is November 12, isn't it?

Not even the true middle of November.

Yet, there are houses throughout our town decorated for Christmas already!

What happened to Thanksgiving?

Houses were decorated for Halloween and they move right onto Christmas, complete with a tree lit up inside the house.

I wonder then, what makes Thanksgiving dinner different than Christmas dinner?  Many people have turkey for both holidays. Wouldn't Thanksgiving feel like Christmas if the house is all decorated for Christmas and they're eating turkey?

I don't get it.
