| Welcome to Daybreak Rabbitry! January 09, 2008 While I have been showing, I have been out of the loop concerning updates for some time. Please bear with me while I start to redo this site completely.
Hi! My name is Mara Scott, I am 16 years old, and I have been breeding and raising rabbits for six years now. I am an very involved and active member in the Elkhart County 4-H Rabbit Club and am a registered ARBA member. I currently own and operate Daybreak Rabbitry, registered #X544. I have raised Havanas in black and chocolate for five years, and in 2006 purchased and started breeding broken black and chocolates. I also raise New Zealand Whites and the rare color of Red. My brother Andrew joined our Rabbit Club in 2007, taking over the Cinnamon breed, then giving them back and switching to Silver Martens in 2008. He is not an owner or part of Daybreak Rabbitry, but uses the same facilities. (Please note that Daybreak Rabbitry's prefix is "Scott's", while Andrew Scott has the prefix "A. Scott's.") In July of 2005, I purchased my first Cinnamon doe, Ginger. Since then I have purchased another Cinnamon, a buck from the Tjark's, at the ARBA National Convention in Indianapolis, hence his name Indy; also another pre-bred doe Aimee, from Oliver Flynn. My brother Andrew started in the 4-H Rabbit Club in 2007. I gave him all my Cinnamons and got into New Zealand Whites for my meatpens. I want to thank Greg and Kristi Rogers for their support in finding me a VERY nice trio of NZ whites. In the early part of 2007, I also purchased an AWESOME pair of NZReds, an endangered and rare variety, from James Gray. This is my rabbit "fun project", and I am interested in seeing how well their babies do in meat pens. Please contact me if you are interested in anything for sale, or just want info on rabbits or cavies. I update often. Thanks for visiting! Please note: This is just a temporary site. It is not very good for a rabbitry site, but it's the best I can do right now. When I get a formal one one up and running, I will post a link on here. Memoirs My main chocolate herd buck, Fudge, passed away in the month of 7/06. He always gave me very good babies, every litter had chocolates, and he had such the swetest personality. He was my very first Havana, and one of my favorites. I owe all that I have accomplished with my Havanas, and getting me started in this wonderful breed, to him. He will be very missed. On 11/16/06 one of my favorite and best chocolate does, Scott's Sadie, passed away due to pneumonia. She will be sorely missed, just for herself and for the amount of wonderful babies she could have still contributed to this rabbitry.

Havanas For Sale No Havanas for sale at this time. Bucks: Does: and litter babies can be used in a breeding pairs. *Mix and match a breeding pair or trio and get a multiple rabbit discount!* Cinnamons For Sale Please note that the "A. Scott's" prefix is my brother Andrew Scott's rabbits - "Scott's" is my own, Mara Scott. No Cinnamons are available at this time. Bucks: Does: *may be for sale, please still inquire* New Zealands For Sale No New Zealands are available at this time. Check back in July/August. Babies will be for sale for meat pens.
Not all rabbits will be taken to every show, so please contact me ASAP if you are interested in a rabbit to make sure that I am taking them. At times I may consider trades for other rabbits, please contact me and ask if I would like to trade for anything you have avialable at that time. Pets can be purchased for $15, and come without a pedigree, and "PET" tattooed in the ear. $15 inclusdes a few days of feed, litter-training guide, and care information. These animals are NOT TO BE USED FOR BREEDING PURPOSES. Many of these animals are the bad results of linebreeding, and if used for breeding will instill virtually permanent bad traits in their offspring. I strongly encourage all those purchasing pets to spay or neuter them, although it is not required. I require a 30% nonrefundable deposit to hold a rabbit. Arrangements must be made to come get the rabbit(s) or meet me at a show within 1 week unless prior arrangements are made. Past 1 week and I will put the rabbit back up for sale or you can pay $1.50 a day for me to hold the rabbit longer. Since I am a 4-Her and youth shower, my prices are already lowered quite a bit from those of the adult breeders therefore I give NO DISCOUNTS TO YOUTH OR 4-H. I reserve the right to take any rabbit off "for sale", change the price, or terminate the sale of any rabbit(s) to anyone at any time, for any reason. If I do not wish to tell you this reason, I reserve the right to not tell you. Pending means I am waiting for a deposit - please still inquire about the animal. Hold means a 30% deposit has been made, but the animal hasn't been picked up. Temporarily Off Sale means that the rabbit is still for sale, but can not be taken until a later date. Please still inquire about the animal. Sold means the rabbit has been paid in full and picked up.
Upcoming Shows No shows planned at this timeOnly shows in green I know I will be attending. Please e-mail me for any others listed or not listed here. I only attend shows in IN and MI, and occasionally in OH. However, it may be possible to have rabbits delivered through a third party to other shows or states.
| New Litters
Born May 20, 2007 Gray's Evan x Gray's Penny Litter of 12, all red. My very first successful New Zealand litter. And TWELVE babies, holy cow! Certianly there will be plenty of reds at least to choose from for my meat pen this year. lol This is also very good for the variety as it is a rare variety of rabbit. Born May 20, 2007 Scott's Polyanna x Colluci's Domino Litter of 4, 2 black, 2 broken black. Domino's only litter as he was gotten rid of due to snuffles. Whelp, I still didn't get the broken chocolate I was hoping for. Guess I'll have to just keep trying. But I have high hopes for these babies as they come from two excellent parents. Born May 23, 2007 Johnson's J4 x Roger's Kalvin Litter of 5, 2 died; all white (2b 1d). This, her second litter was again born on the wire, but this time I was able to save 3 of them, enough for a meat pen! I am keeping the doe and selling both bucks after Fair. So far they are growing well and all are BIG with FAT tummies!
Expected litters Bred June 9, 2007 Zimmerman's AT229 x Zimmerman's Bruce
This is my first lilac to choc pairing. I have heard wonderful things about pairing these colors, and now I'm trying it myself. Hoping for the dark chocs you can't tell from the blacks! Bred June 10, 2007 Scott's ? x Scott's Zachariah Have to decide who to breed this buck to before he is sent out for processing. He has unfortunately contracted snuffles and I want to preserve his bloodline. He is an awesome rabbit, and I plan on pairing him to a good doe, in hopes of good babies. His fur is wonderful as well, something I'd like his babies to inherit!
