A lot of things has happened since last update. I guess I will start out with Prom.
Prom was fun, that was my very first school dance. I was so surprised at first how my parents let me go to Prom AND taking my mom's car for it, but I gladly took it haha. In that morning was Kiwanis One Day for Key Club so I helped out at that event for a while and came back home to get ready. Then went to the other end of the town to pick up Nicole. We both didn't know how to put the boutonniere on so that took about 5-10 minutes at her house lol. We somehow managed to put it on and we drove to Cheesecake Factory where we found Jason, Loan, Ben, Jaime, Crystal, Jennifer, Richard, Joyce, and Alex waiting for us. Food there was so good. I was so full afterwards that I missed out on cheesecake... haha. Then we headed to the place for the dance. Waited for a line to take picture and then we danced. We arrived at the dance late and also took long to take picture it wasn't as long, but it was fun. When that was done we took 10 minutes thinking of what to do next, then Jason, Loan, and we went to Orange Pearl to get frozen yogurt. First time there and it was gooood. After that we just went back home. Nicole and I were talking about how short the fun lasted on the way back. It was short but a great night.
Next big event that happened was the DCON. Oh how much have I waited for this day for my LTG term to be over?! The day finally arrived and I was so happy to end my term and move on away from Key Club. I never thought I would show tears because I was just so glad that it was over... I was wrong. Well explaining the four days of District Convention 2008, the FIRST DAY we got on the plane early in the morning to get to Sacramento. We checked in the hotel and then looked around downtown Sacramento until the Old Board Dinner started on the cruise boat on the river. It was great seeing all the other LTGs we've worked with throughout the year. I wanted to talked to them and sit with them, but of course the rule for Las Vegas LTGs: "always stay together!" (quoting Mr. Lamb,) so we set together and I didn't have much chance to mingle with others again (nothing against Joy and Nahee, we've had so much fun throughout the year =].) Other than that I had good food and it was good time to relax. Then we all returned to the Convention Center and Old Board went into the room and made circle and played game which was intended to make everyone cry. It failed and everyone exchanged laughs instead. Then went to hotel room and got ready for rigorous days ahead. NEXT DAY started with good breakfast, then the final board meeting of the whole year, while the elects were in extensive training and trying not to fall asleep haha. Then we rehearsed on stage for retirement and also speaking on stage with the teleprompters. There we had time to talk and I actually talked to several LTGs I didn't have chance to talk to throughout the year. Then clubs started coming in for registration and we helped out with it. Clark arrived at the Convention Center so I talked to them for a little and just chilled out. First General Session took place and Nahee and I set in the front and cheered for all the LTGs that were nervous but speaking on stage for that session. We both had to leave early before that session ended because we had to run to set up all the projectors and screens for the workshops that were to take place in 20 minutes. I sweat so much, that was probably the most sprinting I had done in one day lol. First workshop ended and we ran to put the equipments back and then just hang out while Meet and Greet took place in several rooms where members can go talk to the Candidates for District Office for next year. Then we went back to hotel room. THIRD DAY was even busier. Day started with Caucus session where I was a moderator in one of the rooms. It was fun making people be quiet and picking people for questions and such haha. Afterwards I sprinted again to get the equipments for workshop set up. Dorothy (Governor) ran the Presidents' workshop and I helped her out throughout it. Then I sprinted again back to put the equipment back and ran again to outside Convention Center to Memorial Center to get to the House of Delegates. I got there on time and Nahee was already waiting for me there. We sat down and Victoria (another LTG in charge of House of Delegates) asked me and Yingsi (another LTG) to do Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. I was so nervous because I had to come up with an invocation in front of about 500-700 people in less than 5 minutes. I have never got to talk to Yingsi before and it was so funny how we were both nervous and were talking to each other. I wish I got to know her earlier in the year. She was so nice and fun to be with. She helped me out on my word choice on the invocation and I helped her refresh in her mind the Pledge of Allegiance so she wouldn't mix it up with Key Club Pledge lol. We both successfully did our joy and we exchanged a victorious high-five afterwards =]. During the House of Delegate we saw all the candidates speak for the last time and while Joy (D28N LTG running for District Secretary) was speaking the microphone failed and from then on everyone had to speak with their voice... okay that place was literally huge with over 2000 seats probably, 3 stories above and the floor was bigger than the size of our school gym. We hardly heard any voice and it was noisy and stressing. Afterwards we had good dinner. I sat with Jacob, one of my roommate and good friend among all the LTGs and also with his friend, Nahee, and Joy. After that it was Award Ceremony General Session where Clark got a lot of awards. I also got DISTINGUISHED LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR =D. I was so happy I got it. Then the Governor's Ball. THE BOMB. 10X better than Prom. It was held on the same place we had the House of Delegate. Huge dance floor and so much fun. Afterwards we returned to hotel. LAST DAY, this is where the unexpected happened. As soon as we woke up we ate breakfast, then I went to backstage early since I was speaking on stage. We LTGs and the LTG elects sat in the designated spot so we can go on stage in orderly manner from backstage. I was one of the people to speak on stage early. I was not as nervous as when I did invocation for some reason, in fact, I wasn't nervous at all even though this time it was in front of all the Key Clubbers in CNH District with over 2000 people. 0.0. There were two teleprompters, one on my left and the other on my right side. I read it off like I practiced. I could hear Clark yelling and screaming as I announced their name for the Spirit Competition winner for First General Session. =]. John, another good friend and fellow LTG was on stage with me on the other podium and we stepped down together after we were done speaking. Now this is when it hit me. That was it. All there was left was the Retirement of the District Board: 54 LTGs, 3 Appointeds, and 4 Executive Officers. As we were called up to be retired, everyone of the LTGs and other members of the District Board were called and one at a time we went on the stage and stood there until everyone went on stage to be recognized. Everyone was smiling at the crowd until the Kiwanis Governor Mr. Knight said: "Now I retire you all as the immediate past District Board of Cali-Nev-Ha District" and music started to play for us to share farewell to each other on the board (as we were told.) We awkwardly started to hug each other and say good-byes, and all of a sudden everyone's eyes were wet with tears, and also on mine as well. It was a sincere moment and we all really thanked each other for great year and we were all broken down that we didn't have any more board meetings and gatherings to look forward to. I didn't care I showed tears in front of 2000+ people. It was our (LTGs and District Boards') moment to share. I didn't even bother there were people looking. I was torn up from the fact that I didn't try enough to get to know everyone throughout the year... After those moments we stepped down to the back stage and kept on crying. Then the new board got installed. We made gates for the NEW LTGs to go through and start a new journey as District Board of 2009-2010. As we returned to the hotel rooms and packed to return to our homes, my roommates signed each other's yearbooks. I'm sad it's over and done, but all I can do is move on to next stage. Good thing though that we all have facebook.
Those two things are now done and all there is left is 5 more weeks of school, AP Testing, Spring Concert, Director's Choice Guitar Ensamble, Senior Orientation, Graduation Rehearsal, Valedictorian Speech and then Graduation. Why is it that 5 weeks of school still seems so far away? lol.
