  • Day of Rest

Today I will be resting in the hospital with my Remicade. Time to let everything else go and heal ... thank you for coming by and understanding!! Of course, once I get back there will be a lot of emails for the AWE project ... but perhaps I will ignore them for a day. These remind me of the candy necklaces some of us had as children. Those elastic strings with little bits of candy strung on them. I'd love to hear how you are doing!!

  • Featured on Interior Design Team

Jean Hood wrote this wonderful piece about me .... you can see the whole version here.  Jean's website is here and her blog is here.  My Etsy Shop is here where you can buy these items!

The Design Style Guide is a wonderful new place that is bringing together thousands of items that are appropriate for Home Decor. Their main purpose is to promote the team and its members to Interior Designers (and like-minded consumers) through various promotions and advertising techniques.

This group is also known as the Interior Design Team at Etsy. This is part of the move to promote [tag]handmade[/tag] items instead of mass produced things. Their focus is on marketing and branding "Handmade Home Decor" to professional Interior Designers.

  • Help a Friend Get to College

Angela Taylor, a fabulous artist and member of WWAO wrote to our group today:All of us create our marks in different ways. My dream is to go to college to make that mark. I got accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design!!! As many of you know though, I am epileptic and paying for college, even for regular students is hard enough so I am asking for your help. I have made a page on Brickfish where you can vote on my entries to help me get a scholarship. The person with the most entries gets one. Although, there is no guarantee, at least it's a shot. Please vote for my entries to help me get a scholarship. You can vote as many times as you like. To vote just click the picture that you would like to vote on, then look on the lower left side and there will be a button to click saying VOTE.  Confirm your vote and bingo!
    "Just Face It", Angela Taylor
She is an inspiring woman, talented artists, and very dear human being. If you have a minute and are in the mood for clicking and viewing unique pieces of art, click the link above.  When you're finished, take a gander at her shop; the link is listed below!
Painting With Passion Original Art by Angela Taylor    My interest in painting began after meeting a local artist and friend. She helped me learn about painting and inspired me to become an artist. Since then, painting has become my voice. It has become my way of coping with the hard situations that I face from having seizures.I started having seizures at 12yrs for unknown reasons.I had about 7 seizures a day 100 a day at the most. After having brain surgery in June,2003, I only have them at night. I did wake up from brain surgery with my left side paralyzed but it was NOT permanent. Physical Therapy helped ALOT! I can not go without medications or they will start again. I started painting as Therapy after I healed from surgery. I hope that painting will help others to prosue their dreams of painting as I have been inspired to prosue mine. My work is basically abstract in style because I choose to work with color and a more intuitive approach to painting. While looking at each painting you may wonder what I was thinking while painting. I assure you that every painting has a meaning. The ability to paint my emotions is what I find so therapeutic about art.She is a very inspiring woman and artist.  Now!  Go visit her Etsy shop and fabulous artworks to help support her College Dream and acquire a fabulous piece of art!

  • Sharing Responsibility

Today the Artists of Franklin County had our monthly meeting.  I am delighted that the group is ready to take more ownership of the group by sharing the tasks.  I am very relieved.  For over a year and a half I have basically held the group together until things really gelled.  I am thrilled that the last 6 months or so new people have joined and have become involved and committed. Now we are taking concrete steps so that several of us are taking and sharing responsibility.  Yippee!!

More good news - today in an online group where I am a moderator, someone else has stepped up to take great leadership. I am so happy that I can stop trying to figure out how to make this online group streamlined and functioning well.

Once I read, "If you are smart enough to make yourself indispensable, then you are smart enough how to make yourself dispensable." So I am feeling better but I still have too much responsibility and I am trying - responsibly - to streamline my commitments.  I am still fairly tired.  Thank you for stopping by!!!

  • New Action Needed on the Orphan Act Bill

Today I prepared and printed many ACEOs ... it was a lot of work and a lot of fun!!  I played with this image and made several other variations of these unusual birds. Please all US residents take the action suggested below to try to stop this irresponsible version of this well-meaning but mis-guided bill. Clearly my local US Representative, John Olver, does not understand the importance of this bill. He supports it for the museums. He doesn't realize how much this will hurt all the artists in his district.  So please, please write!

Totally quoted from an email sent to me:

A quick update about this bill. It is poised for a final vote (date not yet announced) so please try to get your final "shots" in.

What illustrators and designers and photographers etc. are doing now is a postcard mailing blitz... (many of them are using their postcard mailers or printing off something quickly)

On the back they write: "Please vote NO on the Orphan Works bill-- H.R. 5889 for the House; S-2913 for the Senate" and sign it with their name and contact information.

No explanation necessary just "VOTE NO TO THE ORPHAN WORKS ACT."

**But here is the important part: **

**Any correspondence needs to be addressed to the DISTRICT OFFICE. **

Apparently, mail received at district offices, gets to the congressmen faster than it would if sent to their actual offices.

You can go to this link:

    http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Just click on the name and it will take you to his or her website where the mailing address of the district office can be found.
