THE YEAR 1906??

This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine!
The year is 1906.
One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1906 :

************************************

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year .

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as "substandard."

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health." ( Shocking? DUH! )

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !

Monday, October 16, 2006

Well it's been a while now since I last updated. Instead of putting my every thought on here I decided I should process it all first. Passion, this word says so much to us but yet do we honestly understand the true meaning or have we (as the body of believers) just hit the tip of the ice burge? We say we have passion for something, so do we fight for it? It's a desire that's buring deep within us, but would we die for it? God has given us all passions that He would have for us to carry out, so...what holds us back? Finances, Education, the approval of others...yourself. If it is a passion that God has put inside you, then nothing can stop you from fulfilling that passion if you just have faith. Look at faith like this: Faith is stepping out onto nothing, Looking to God for something, and Finding everything. So I encourage you with passions deeply rooted within your souls. Have faith in the one who's in control, don't give up on your passions. For in order to make a difference, we must be the ones to take a chance and change as well. I don't know the next time that I'll post, but until then. God Bless.
Gone...

Gone for now...I'll update eventually...
Just God and Me....

Well the summer's over and the school year has begun... Everything's been going great. My classes are amazing, I'm so glad that I'm in my own apartment with 3 other friends (Jeff, Adam, and David), and God is showing me that being single is ACTUALLY a good thing...Don't get me wrong, I love relationships, they're amazing, but through this time being single God's showing me what I need to change in myself before I commit to someone. In a relationship we always tend to point fingers at the other person, but in order to become truley united in the relationship, there must be a change within yourself first (God's definitley still workin on me with this). And I have to admit, even though it's hard sometimes, I thank the Lord that He's showing me this. Through this process I've been getting closer to Him in ways that I've never before. The reason being is b/c whenever I would start to like a girl, I would unknowningly start pushing God out of the picture so I could spend more time with the her. But it's amazing how God can work on us in ways we thought were impossible... In saying all that, I know when the time comes, God'll give me the one He has for me, but for now, I glad it's just God and Me : ) ...
