It's been a looooooong time since I've written anything in my xanga...

It's 5:46pm now and I have been working on my powerpoint presentation for my CNS 391 Canadian Studies course.  I can't believe I'm presenting on the first week and nobody was willing to switch with me because they are all happy with their presentation dates!! Now everyone can have an extra week to improve on their own presenation after seeing mine ...There's the good side though, I can get over with this task faster than everyone else, yet I'm still feeling so anxious because it's a 20% presentation.  It's hard to grasp what the teacher wants while she has a PHD in Canadian popular music... Honestly, I kinda miss college life when people are all friendly and relaxed.  University is about competing and competing...standards are much higher...in PSYC 201, 4% of the class HAS to fail.   I think i'm much more anxious than before because of school now...feeling more distant from everyone else...but what is there to do?

I'm starting to feel guilty for not attending to church at times to listen to bible teachings...I don't want to get too far away from jesus while I know he is the one who will walk besides me no matter what happens.  I shall pray every night to keep us connected...

I'm waiting for my company dinner now which will be in "SUN SUI WA" at 7:30pm...I'm glad I'm working in the golf course now where there is no competition whatsoever.  People are quite friendly there...some girls (women) are already married while they are 24 years old!!! That totally influenced me because I have a feeling that my social clock is calling me to make major things happen in life...

Praying every night and day, hoping to end this semester smoothly and successfully....

I dunno why, I already know most of the stuff that horoscopes will say about me, but I still read them, hoping to find a line or two that is new... If anybody is interested, you can hit on to:  http://www.astrology-numerology.com/num-lifepath.html#lp4

Your birthstone is Sapphire
The Mystical properties of Sapphire

Though not meant to replace traditional medical treatment, Sapphire is used for clear thinking.  (MAYBE I SHOULD GO GET ONE...)

Some lists consider these stones to be your birthstone. (Birthstone lists come from Jewelers, Tibet, Ayurvedic Indian medicine, and other sources)

Agate, Moonstone, Lapis Lazuli

Your birth tree is

Lime Tree, the Doubt

Accepts what life dishes out in a composed way, hates fighting, stress and labour, tends to laziness and idleness, soft and relenting, makes sacrifices for friends, many talents but not tenacious enough to make them blossom, often wailing and complaining, very jealous, loyal.

The Life Path Number

The Life Path is the sum of the birth date. This number represents who you are at birth and the native traits that you will carry with you through life. The most important number that will be discussed here is your Life Path number. The Life Path describes the nature of this journey through life.

The Life Path 4 (MY LIFE PATH NUMBER...) suggests that you entered this plane with a natural genius for planning, fixing, building, and somehow, with practical application and cerebral excellence, making things work. You are one of the most trustworthy, practical, and down-to-earth of individuals; the cornerstone members of society. Indeed, as a Life Path 4, you are a builder of society. The cream of the crop in this Life Path can be a master builder in society. if you are among these highly talented people (ERRRR... LIKE IN WAT AREA??), you have an idealistic nature which is grounded in practical terms, allowing you to conceive grandiose, far-reaching schemes and carry them through to the end. If you desire and are willing to work for it, you can achieve enormous success, prestige, and fame. Obviously, everyone with a 4 Life Path does not become famous.

You are an excellent organizer and planner because of your innate ability to view things in a very common sense and practical way. This stems from a strong desire to be a perfectionist in your labor. Planning is necessary to avoid errors. It's very likely that a 4 Life Path person invented the to-do list <= (OMG THIS IS SOOOO "ME") , because it is the rare Life Path 4 who doesn't have one by her side at all times. Your life is programed in an orderly fashion permitting you to catalog and manage the flow of ideas and activities that fill your day. Indeed, you seem to function best when you are under the gun and facing a tough set of problems (REALLY? ).

Loyal and devoted, you make the best of your marriage , and you are always the good provider. Friends may be few in number (ANYONE KNOW WHO THESE PPL ARE?  ), but you are very close to them and once friendships are made, they often last a lifetime.

How to Study Better

Studying well takes focus of attention and an excitement to learning the subject, both which may not be present while having to study. So how can you prep yourself for the task?

Steps

  1. A good night's sleep helps. Being tired is a distraction.
  2. The proper nutrition helps. Protein is the proper nutrition to keep carb-addicts from falling asleep. Add vitamins via salad fixings and you can become alert for the work ahead.
  3. Being fit helps work the brain. If you are not fit, start getting fit, by just walking, at first, and then continue into strength-building, aerobics and flexibility exercises, such as yoga and pilates. This should be done as suggested, at least 3 times a week, minimum of 30 minutes, but preferably 30-60 minutes a day of alternate physical concentration. After every 30 minutes of mental concentration, get up and do something physical, a few minutes of jumping rope, throwing the ball, standing on your head, whatever.
  4. Get rid of the distractions and get yourself immersed in the subject at hand. (Easier said than done, but you can get interested in the subject matter without thinking about your problems, etc., if it is interesting in the first place.) Distractions include cell phones, TV's and radios, people who like to talk to you or around you.
  5. Have a deadline. If you don't have one, make one.
  6. Give yourself a reward. Sometimes you get the reward first, then do the work that you were supposed to do for that reward. Or wait till you have read a chapter/done a problem/whatever is on your list, then give yourself a reward.
  7. Know that this too (the studying) will end and you can then get a life.

Tips

  • Everyone has a different studying style and some tips would include highlighting, outlining, taking notes according to categories, and then memorizing those notes and categories, all depending on the subject matter. Review the material through the notes you have made, reading over that which you have forgotten. Taking good notes is essential. You can't rely on your memory. See the How to Get Straight A's notations.
  • Studying with a partner who is as serious about the subject as you can be a good motivator to work harder. Organize the study session into parts, review notes outline chapter, discuss concepts (try to teach it to each other so that you are sure you both get it.)
  • Try to break formulas and concepts into pnuemonics to help you remember the concepts for example if one wants to remember the notes of the treble cleff in music the mnemonic Every Good Boy Does Fine= E, G, B, D, F.
  • Where a chapter or subject lends itself to 4-6 different catagories of information. Write out a 3x5 index card with questions on one side and answers on the other. Put one question from each catagory on one side of the card and the corresponding answer on the other side. Then invite some friends from the class over to play History Trivial Pursuit. Same rules, your index cards.
  • Use graphic organizers (GOs) to organise the information that you want to study. Use the concept map, cause and effect diagrams, event organizers depending on what content you want to study. Check out http://www.graphic.org for some useful graphic organizers and how to use them. Print some GOs from http://www.edhelper.com/teachers/graphic_organizers.htm to start you off.

Warnings

  • Studying could get addictive. The more you study successfully, the more you find you would like to and you may never leave school, becoming a perennial student till your dying days.
  • Being a perennial student may not be so bad after all, considering that a successful life demands that you be a student of it.
  • Watch out for inclinations to procrastinate until the last moment. All your efforts will not lead to success and you'll end up blaming your tools.

Things You'll Need

  • A quiet room with plenty of air and light, and which allows little if any interruptions.
  • A clock with an alarm in case you are writting sample essays that need to be timed

I SWEAR I will not be a nice person from now on! ...

Yo~! I can't believe I'm writting in my xanga at 7:07am on New Year's Day.  Anywayz, Happy 2006 everyone! Wishing all of you luck and health .  Yesterday went to "Siu Fei Yeung" to have hotpot with Mandy, Hailey, her bf, Sam, Dan, Ken and her gf.  It was quite nice because I haven't had a hotpot this year.  I can't believe how much I ate too! Everyone said I eat a lot, and I really do...esp ALL YOU CAN EAT, just couldn't resist.  I hope Mandy and Sam will take me to ALL YOU CAN EAT dessert next time for just $11 right?  Haha...damn! you guys let me know about it, now I always think about food now.  On Januaray 03 it will be Angelina's birthday party, so gotta have another dinner at SanBoSin.  Haha, I haven't gone to downtown to shop around this year yet, I really want to go at night and then have gelato there!! ...

So, talking about yesterday on New Year's Eve again.  The highschool gang went to our elementary school, Ferris, to play firecracker...I think it was better than last time when we did it on Hallowe'en, because the quality of the crackers were better, and we had a lot of fun ESCAPING   HAHA it's just hilarious, but super thanks to Tony, if he didn't have the van, I don't think we had the guts to come back to Ferris to get "crackin" again lol........Ya, so later on we went to Dorothy's house to parti again lah! We drank the 151 and I finally know what the submarine is!!! Well, I still think red wine, "smironoff", and vodka w/ coke is the best! Because when I drink those I get really relaxed and then you start to have funny conversations with the people around you, hahaha it's just hilarious.  But then 151 just makes your throat burn and make you feel really exhausted .  I wish more people attended to the party yesterday!! I think drinking Green Tea w/ alcohol while playing "or lor si luen poon" is fun haha...

It's 7:22am, kinda want to go to the gym to loose some calories from the all you can eat...are the shops, malls even open today??????????

Laterzzzzzzz

=D oris
