Pray for Bluffton University

Another CCCU school -- their baseball team was involved in a horrific accident.

Please be careful over spring break.

For the few of you out there who remember the LAST Bears trip to the Super Bowl in 1985...

Enjoy this trip down Memory Lane of the original SNL "Superfans."

I never thought I'd be one of "them"

So, I think I'm turning into one of those earth-muffin types...

I'm becoming slightly obsessed with recycling, turning off lights, etc.  My last stronghold is my somewhat gas-guzzling (but now functional) car.  We'll see what happens.

Watch this, if you get a chance.  It's probably 10 years old, so my guess is the stats are outdated.  But it's still effective.

Here's a current stat: on the day after Thanksgiving, 2006, (AKA "Black Friday") Americans spent almost $9 billion.  What could we do with $9 billion?

priest or mechanic?

So, my idiot car has been to the mechanic's FIVE times in the last month.  The "check engine" light comes on, then they can't find anything really wrong with it, and then the light goes off, then it goes back on, then off...

GAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Oh -- forgot to mention, the first time this happened, they said, "it's a transmission problem -- $1000, at least."

A)  That car is 4 years old and only has 60K miles on it.

B)   I live at work.  I have no commute.

There's NO reason why this should be happening, other than that hunk of junk is possessed.  I'm going to anoint the car with holy water from Volkman Pond to see if that'll fix it...

However, I'll still take this problem over what some others of y'all are facing (Robb, Jeron...)

things I remember about American History

I remember President Ford -- he was the first President I remember somewhat clearly.  I was in kindergarten.

I remember the first war with Iraq in the early 90s.  My college roommate's brother was sent there, so we were glued to CNN for several weeks.

I was fascinated by the stark contrast between the deaths of Gerald Ford and Saddam Hussein.

Pay attention, folks.  The things that are happening now are the things that your kids will be studying in history class.

Happy 2007.
