Blech... on many levels

No one keeps in touch anymore.  No one knows how to write a letter when they owe one.  No one knows how to express genuine friendship anymore.  Who knows?  This includes family, friends, and acquaintances.

It's just bad enough to have a niece who tries to act like something she is not.  She's not a "gangsta".  She thinks she's "bad".  She thinks that all the stupid stuff she gets caught at is a "mistake".  She dropped out of her senior year of high school.  If I wrote some of the crap she writes on the front page of her myspace, I would have been hauled off for psychiatric evaluation.  I guess acting like a psychotic stupid white girl who makes herself look like a dork is the norm these days.  Never mind what it makes the rest of the family look like.  Several derogatory words come to mind.  It bothers me.  It REALLY bothers her grandmother.  I don't know what her mother thinks, but the girl won't listen.  She says she doesn't have to do what her parents say because she is 18 and adult.  YET, she still lives with her parents and disrespects everybody.  Lately the kid has gotten into some legal trouble and calls it one of those "mistakes".  She was wondering why her parents were so mad at her.  DUH!  Apparently she even has a court date and can't figure out why her parents said they're not going to be there with her.  DUH again.  She says she is an adult so she can face things like an adult.  Now, she is afraid of going to jail because of all of the butchy women in there.  Her words cleaned up, not mine.  ***I just want to know where I can get me a pair of those rosy colored glasses she's been wearing***  Maybe she needs to get a crash course in prison life.  Get this, she looks a little like Paris Hilton, so we all know how that is going to go if she does go to jail.

That's only one of the joyous things going on right now.

In the mean time, send thoughts and prayers to the folks out in California who are dealing with the wildfires and especially to the people who are fighting them (the firemen and Nat'l Guard etc.).

A first time for everything

We thought we had seen it all till yesterday.  Our dogs treed a groundhog on the door to their lot .  Go figure.  You had to be there to appreciate it.

Still...

Things are still rough around the edges here.  Sorta draining a little still.  Trying to be creative and work on some drawings.  No decent pond banks to fish from.  Ugh.  Just ugh about everything.  Crap crap crap crap crap.  I might ought to take up worm farming.  Sheesh!

Mind numbingly draining

Some of you might, on the off-chance, notice that I have not blogged lately.  Things have been difficult here for the last week and a half.  Please do not ask me to explain right now.  Things here are just hard.

Perpetuating Stereotypes

So, this one guy is asked about his religion and if he buggars animals.  Amidst his replies, he crudely jokes that, while he doesn't, he's sure that it's an enjoyable past time among farmers.  First and foremost, when explaining your beliefs in public, to someone who does not believe the same thing as you, with other people listening I might add, it is insulting and hypocritical to defame another group of people who, in this case, do their damnedest to feed this country and contribute to the rest of the world.  Would you believe that a Pagan, of all people, said this in public?  In all of the local groups here, you hear them say have tolerance for this or tolerance for that and how we deserve respect as a group of people.  I found/find it insulting on many levels.  There are generations of farmers in my family and thank you very much they didn't buggar animals.

I broached this subject with another person on-line and was basically jumped on because I had found it in bad taste and felt insulted by it.  This person I thought I could talk with brought up Scottish heritage and then everything went south really fast because I told them that I really didn't care for the stereotypes that are thrust upon Scots... how all Scots are drunks and animal buggarers.  So that was the end of that conversation and me talking to that person ever again.

Unfortunately, the guy who said this relayed it on an on-line discussion group where, as of this morning, they were still making beastiality jokes.  This same group of people are going to be holding a public animal blessing ceremony sometime in the near future.  I've wiped my hands of these people.

I do not think I am in the wrong for not wanting to perpetuate stereotypes or put up with things that personally offend me.
