Awesome deals!

I love finding awesome deals.  For example: one of the items on my list to buy for step was a mess kit.  A mess kit is in essence a frying pan, saucepan, and a plate.  ALERT sells these things for $18.99 and then cutlery is like $2.35.  Well, I went on Academy and saw a set for $13.99 last night.  This afternoon I searched google for it and ebay came up so I went on ebay and found a mess kit that includes a saucepan, frying pan, lid, plate, cup, AND interlocking cutlery for $8.49 with free shipping.  IT SO TOTALLY ROCKS!

In other news regarding STEP preparations: I bought a pair of khaki pants today as well as some shower shoes that I hope can double as lake shoes but won't know until Mrs. Becky either calls me back or I can reach her by phone.  Tonight I will call Angela and get the time set up for me to be at her house to pick her up.  Then we'll also work out the details of where to go which I'm hoping she will be unopposed to going to Walmart, Kohl's, Target, Academy, Gander Mountain, and the such.    I still need 2 khaki skirts, 1 navy polo, 2 khaki pants, 2 pairs of exersize pants, lake shoes, "quality sport socks", hiking boots, a rain poncho, a notebook, utility gloves, sunscreen, and insect repellent, necessetties, a laundry bag, a mesh bag for socks, white and black laundry pens, a small container of laundry deterent, pocket knife (which Walmart has one that I really like if I can get to one that has it), a flashlight, staitonery and hopefully a camera.  I bought a dark colored t-shirt and a small sewing kit from ALERT's store.

I'm so excited.  I can't believe STEP is actually happening.

Here are some pictures I took yesterday...of myself.  Well, one I took myself, one my sister took.  You'll be able to tell which one is which.  Haha.

My shirt says, "Enjoy Coke".  So me!  Joanna Sterrett, the housekeeping coordinator up at ALERT, and I became really good friends.  We bought these shirts to match.    I miss her.

EDIT:  I just documented my oldest brother's first shave!  (He's the oldest but younger than me.)

I'M HOME!

And what an adventure it has been!

I just have to share something about the awesome God I serve!

As a background to this story, there's this program called STEP: Skills and Training for Emergency Preparedness.  It's for girls 15 and up and held at the International ALERT Academy, which is where I just came back from.  STEP began in 2003.  It's a program that encourages girls in their walk with the Lord who are more outdoorsy type people.  A lot of girls who go in there are tomboys, and a lot are just the opposite.  You can get the most extreme cases from what I've heard.  lol  It also teaches First Aid, Search and Rescue, basic mechanical stuff, basic wiring stuff, trains your physical fitness and so on.  (You can read more at www.alertacademy.com/step )  I've always thought it was neat, thought it might be fun to go to, but it's always just been in the back of my head.  I never really prayed about it or mentioned it, really, at all.  Well, just last week as I was helping Mrs. Herring and Mrs. Becky (Mrs. Becky is Mrs. Herring's sister.  Focus on this for a minute:  Mrs. Herring is the wife of my boss, Captain Herring.  Which means Mrs. Becky is my boss's sister-in-law.  Mrs. Becky is also Mrs. Becky Tanner, wife to one of the Tanner boys, Colonel Tanner's son.  And Colonel Tanner is THE head honcho up at ALERT.)  Anyways, I was helping them get their kids to a table and getting high chairs and whatnot when Mrs. Becky (who also runs STEP) asked me when I was going to go through STEP.  I think I chuckled a little and replied that it would probably have to be next year because this year I didn't have the financial abilities to do so this time around.  Well, yesterday just before lunch Mrs. Becky told me that money had been provided to cut my tuition cost down from the $995 to $250.  I was stunned, really.  I've never prayed about this.  I've never mentioned it to anyone really.  Well, that's not all.  Just after lunch, Mrs. Becky came back and told me that someone else had provided the other $250.  Isn't that incredible?  God knew what my desire was even though I didn't tell Him it or anyone else about it.  God cared enough to show ME His love by blessing me with this opportunity.  I had been planning on doing a Bridal Consultantry course right about now, but I have decided, that since all arrows are pointing in the direction of my attending STEP, to postpone it until afterwards, therefore I can spend my money on the necessary items to take for STEP, such as a pocket knife, khaki skirts (I only have one), khaki pants, workout pants, and whatnot else.  It's a rather extensive packing list which you can find here: http://www.alertacademy.com/step/pdf/080036-step-packing-list.pdf  It's incredible, really.  I serve an AWESOME GOD!!!

Now, to only find 3 pairs of khaki pants.  I found two pairs of khaki pants in all of Walmart, Target, and Kohl's variety but neither of them had it in my size.  Argh!  Frustrations.  I also have to find hiking boots.    I need to go shopping.  Which means that an outing with my best friend, who's being shipped off to Iraq June 4th, on this Saturday would be a good time to do that.  Later y'all.

Last post

Well, it turns up my ride is an hour late so I have time to hop on here and give the events of the morning.

When I told you that I'd be up 'til midnight packing and take a shower around 12:30 this morning, I wasn't kidding.  I literally was.  I got in bed at 1.  Surprisingly I came wide awake when my alarm went off at 5.  Mom says it was because of the shock.  I got up and dressed and packed some last minute stuff and then left for Mamma's.  I got there around 5:30ish and we left their house around 5:40ish.  We were on the other side of town by 6:30 and I was home at 7.  I slept until 8:45 when I got up and did some other last minute packing before going back to Mamma's and picking Granny up.  I took her to Sarah Care (and remembered to drop off their check that I was supposed to give them Monday) and then came home.  Course I've been home since around 10:30.  About 45 minutes.

But I remembered something I needed to tell y'all.  We are boycotting Starbucks and are encouraging y'all to do the same thing.  Why?  Starbucks has this mermaid on their cup that is partially undressed due to her nature.  But she has hair that is strategically placed so that she's not quite so...yeah, that.  Well, for their big anniversary coming up, they moved her hair.  So now on all of their cups a completely naked mermaid is on it.  Therefore, as a family standing for moral values, we are boycotting Starbucks.  Please join us.  Write them a letter in protest!  I'm going to do that right now.  I think it is horrible!  The society we live in today is just as bad, if not worse, than Sodom and Gomorrah.  I guess you could send them something here: http://www.starbucks.com/customer/contact_forms.asp?nav=3f

or actually send them a letter in the mail to:

This is now the final post.  See y'all later.  Don't miss me too much!

17 hours...

...and counting!  I can't wait.  I should be folding and packing and working out and showering and calling Mrs. Zeek right now.  I'm so excited.  But tomorrow is going to be a LONG day.  In roughly 11 hours I will probably be dragging myself out of bed (after packing 'til midnight and showering around 12:30ish) so I can make it to my grandparents in time to take Pappaw to chemo...if that ends up being the plan.  It may be that Mamma and Pappaw will decide not to do it that way and Mamma will take him and come back home afterwards, but...I think it would just be simpler if they'd let me take him.  He has to be there around 6:30 which means we leave his house around 5:30ish, which means I leave my house around 5:10ish...which means I'll probably be getting up a little earlier than 5.

This morning we went to work.  There were 10 13-24 month olds in my room.  My boys were two of them (Heri, short for Heritage, and Shepherd are twins!)  It went relatively well.  Then afterwards we ran down to the mall and I got some needed clothing articles and then I dropped Mom and Savanna off at Walmart while I ran across the street and picked Granny up.  Then we waited for like thirty minutes in the parking lot for them to finish in Walmart.  Then we raced home so that I could drop the two off and get the money for Granny's haircut.  Then I was at the hair salon until just before 4 p.m.  Dropped Granny off at Mamma's and then went to Grandma's to pick up the boys from doing her lawn.  Then I came home.

I can't wait until tomorrow.

Oh, and this will probably be my last post for the next three weeks, folks, I probably won't have time to jump on tomorrow.  So, happy trails until we meet again!

Candidates are scurrying!

Boy, is Hillary and Obama having a tough time of it.  But I'd say it's their own fault.

"Obama has been under heavy criticism from Clinton and Republican John McCain, who have called him elitist and out of touch for saying small-town residents were clinging to religion and guns in bitterness over their economic troubles." (John Whitesides, Political Correspondent)

Haha!  Wasn't Kerry unable to take the vote in '04 against Bush cause he was "out of touch" with the people of America?

I think it is RETARDED how he accuses us of being bitter and thus clinging to our guns and religion and then expects to get out of it.  He's proven once more that he's nothing but a two-faced double-talker.

And Hillary...*shakes head*  Running from sniper fire?  And now she's admitting that she had said it wrongly.  And that:  "You can go back for the past 15 months. We both have said things that, you know, turned out not to be accurate," Clinton said. "That happens when you're talking as much as we have talked. But, you know, I'm very sorry that I said it."

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  You're ALL sorry you said those things when it comes around to bite you in the tail!  But if it was a Republican candidate that said anything amiss or slightly off-key, IT'S A NATIONAL CRIME!!

Hahaha, wallow in your mistakes.  Serves you RIGHT!
