So long, have we forgotten?

Wow! What a trip down memory lane. I stumbled upon my xanga site, and I feel like a stranger. I barely remember how to do this.

Since all of my xanga "friends" have also left, perhaps quitting xanga all together cold turkey for..e..ver, it doesn't matter too much what I write about. But, for my own sanity, I'll fill you in, dear xanga psuedo-diary.

I just finished my first year at Hiram College. I twirled baton in the marching band (first one ever at Hiram), ran cross country (a slow season to say the least), and uh you know had classes. (Pff) Haha, but really college is good. Sometimes lonely, but good. That's one thing that makes me miss high school....I miss my friends. Sure, Hiram has great people and yada yada, but I miss home. I miss Lindsay, Lyndsey, Nicole, Vidya...everyone.

Currently, I am living on campus (summer housing. woot.) I have an internship with Denny Taylor in the Biology department. We're working for the OEPA developing materials for Primary Headwater Habitat Assessment. Yawn. Nah, actually it's really neat. If we succeed (and we totally will :)) our online program may be used across the nation. How cool is that? All the while, we're having a good time, despite the agonizing 9-5 M-F schedule.

What else is new? I couldn't possibly summarize the entire past year in a silly xanga entry....so I'll tell you about my fabulous experience with rock climbing last night. We went to an indoor climbing place...it was fantastic! I've climbed a couple times...if you could even count them, but this, THIS was hardcore. I mean like super-high, walls jutting out, difficult-to-reach hand holds. It was definitely worth it. We went on college ID night, which meant it was cheaper, catering to the oh-so-cliche poor college students. (a cliche that's oh-so-true)

Well, that was fun. I'm going to head back to my date with Harry Potter. Book III. (I'm reading them all again leading up to the extraordinary 7th book. EEEEEE!) Goodnight!

The End of the World by Fluid

Friday, March 31, 2006

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

Katie!!

p.s. I wonder how I did. Not having a spanish teacher to proofread my writing is not helping lol.

Wow, so apparently this is the time of year where everything just sits. Time stands still for a little bit. A lot of people are leaving xanga. Haha, as if it's a big deal. Online diary...not so big. But back to the stagnant lives of pretty much everyone I know. Or maybe it's just me. It's annoying that High School Graduation is so far out of reach. We have 3 more months. It seems small, but then again not at all. I need summer. I need fun. Actually I want those things, but I sure can't make the clock move faster.

I need to pick a college this month.

Chili is sooo good! I just want chili everyday!
