What a trip down memory lane. I stumbled upon my xanga site, and I feel like a stranger. I barely remember how to do this.

Since all of my xanga "friends" have also left, perhaps quitting xanga all together cold turkey for..e..ver, it doesn't matter too much what I write about. But, for my own sanity, I'll fill you in, dear xanga psuedo-diary.

I just finished my first year at Hiram College. I twirled baton in the marching band (first one ever at Hiram), ran cross country (a slow season to say the least), and uh you know had classes. (Pff) Haha, but really college is good. Sometimes lonely, but good. That's one thing that makes me miss high school....I miss my friends. Sure, Hiram has great people and yada yada, but I miss home. I miss Lindsay, Lyndsey, Nicole, Vidya...everyone.

Currently, I am living on campus (summer housing. woot.) I have an internship with Denny Taylor in the Biology department. We're working for the OEPA developing materials for Primary Headwater Habitat Assessment. Yawn. Nah, actually it's really neat. If we succeed (and we totally will :)) our online program may be used across the nation. How cool is that? All the while, we're having a good time, despite the agonizing 9-5 M-F schedule.

What else is new? I couldn't possibly summarize the entire past year in a silly xanga entry....so I'll tell you about my fabulous experience with rock climbing last night. We went to an indoor climbing place...it was fantastic! I've climbed a couple times...if you could even count them, but this, THIS was hardcore. I mean like super-high, walls jutting out, difficult-to-reach hand holds. It was definitely worth it. We went on college ID night, which meant it was cheaper, catering to the oh-so-cliche poor college students. (a cliche that's oh-so-true)

Well, that was fun. I'm going to head back to my date with Harry Potter. Book III. (I'm reading them all again leading up to the extraordinary 7th book. EEEEEE!) Goodnight!

Sunday, September 03, 2006

The End of the World by Fluid

Friday, March 31, 2006

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Necesito escribir en español todos los dias. Time stands still for a little bit. A lot of people are leaving xanga. Haha, as if it's a big deal. Online diary...not so big. But back to the stagnant lives of pretty much everyone I know. Or maybe it's just me. It's annoying that High School Graduation is so far out of reach. We have 3 more months. It seems small, but then again not at all. I need summer. I need fun. Actually I want those things, but I sure can't make the clock move faster.

I need to pick a college this month.

Chili is sooo good! I just want chili everyday!

No more clutter, you know? It's such a great feeling and I'm so thankful for our get togethers outside of camp. Camp really fills me, but you can't expect it to last all year.

I love my Hiram Conference.

Life may not be so awesome now, but I know I have so much to look forward to.

I feel pensive.

Other than time to write a new xanga entry, it's 10:11. Whoa, that was a most unecessary opening to this entry.

This weekend I went down to Cincinnati for a scholarship compitition. Here's what they said "There are 1500 people here competing" Me: whoa I'm up against a lot of people. "There are 150 Validictorians here" Me: Oh...well shoot. At least they throw me 2 thousand just for trying. Ain't that sweet of them?

Four hours later, I'm getting ready for the Valentine's dance which starts in 45 minutes. Whew. I wore my hair down, so I didn't need too much time for that. It worked out fine! I just missed dinner, but since Jon was courting two ladies (myself and Lindsay) he wasn't alone there. The dance was fantastically fun! Jon and I had a good time "mood dancing". It was just really really awesome. AND I can't wait to get our triple picture! YESSS. It was a good one.

Oh and I probably shouldn't forget to mention that I met some dude from Dreamstreet. Haha, yeah, the band that was never popular becuase they were all 9 year olds. (And because Backstreet Boys was the bomb diggity back then) It was funny though because I saw the photographer coming towards us and I grabbed the "famous" guy for a picture. Haha! I can't wait to see it on Vizphoto dot com.

I don't have school tomorrow because I'm going for an interview at Grove City...and shopping with my madre! Twill be grand!

Here's what I've learned in life so far:

Don't underestimate how far a counter or wall sticks out. I've bruised a lot of hips and shoulders that way.

Never run up or down the stairs in socks. It's just not a good idea. I've fallen many times and you get rugburn on top of the pain and embarassment.

I guess that's all I've learned. Oh wait and boys are stupid, but girls are stupid sometimes too. But that's a given.

KATIE

Sunday, January 29, 2006

Today's my birthday! I'm eighteen. Woohoo I'm legal, I guess. It's not like I'm actually going to buy cigarettes, porn, and lottery tickets. My curfew hasn't even moved. 18's just a number.

So...I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend! It was amazing! First things first, I worked 5 to 10 on Friday night. Ehh, whatever the usual. Around 9ish I get a delivery...balloons and flowers! I felt so special! So I figured they were from the girls and Lindsay must've dropped them off. WELL, come 10 o'clock I'm walking out to the car, on the phone with Lindsay, and my car is covered in neon green paint! Like "Happy 18th birthday!" "la vie boheme" and "call me boys, I'm legal!" haha! It was AWESOME. So then I hear RENT playing outside and echoing on my phone, then Lyndsey fell out of her window and Lindsay and Vidya ran at me and it was chaos! It was wonderful!

They waited for an hour in the parking lot of the Natatorium! Oh, my favorite jellybeans!

More birthday madness...

Next, we went to Vidya's where there was kelly green decorations, clay masks, the Fox and the Hound, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, and a treasure hunt for the coolest gift...El Arbol Generoso...aka The Giving Tree, but in Spanish! We read through it and we shed some tears, while Lindsay cried an ocean. Needless to say, it was great night! Except that I had work at 6:30 the next morning, haha!

Yesterday, I went to eat with my Grandma and Grandpa. Today I went to Grinder's with Nicole and she payed for me! Wahoo! Not only that, she gaveme a way cool magnetic picture frame and a gift certificate for Claire's...hello earrings! I'm also getting a watch for my birthday! I have to go pick one out soon.

All in all, it was a perfect birthday. Thanks for being awesome!

Me gustan mis amigas.

Unspeakable, actually, so I'm not going to talk about it. Bio A.P....who knows? It could be great or terrible. I'm not confident about anything except band, which was just memorzing words. English and History weren't bad, but they're the ones I studied least for. Go figure.

Tomorrow I have Stats, and luckily, that's all! I'm happy about that! Hopefully when I take my drop slip to Mrs. Paul (YESSSSS) I won't have to take the exam. I need to get there early enough because I'm afraid it will be too late. Oh, I hope not! I have many priorities and Stats just isn't one of them. I'll be angry if she's not taking drops anymore, so I'm crossing my fingers. Eeee! 3 cheers for one less class to worry about...(come on, I have 7 others)

Ooooooh! On a lighter note, I had my first Amigos De Las Americas meeting yesterday. It was so wonderful, because every moment I'm there I remember what I'm going to be doing in 6 months! It's unreal, but so real. Make sense? Oh well! I simply CANNOT WAIT TO GO!! Eeee! Just imagine. Me living with a family in a village that speaks only Spanish. I'm going to be surrounded by another culture and language!

Current Issues on my personal news channel:

Baton- Getting a solid routine.

Oboe- Hitting some solid notes.

Soccer- MIghty Ducks aren't so mighty, but it's way fun!

Anyways, Lindsay and I went to Olive Garden, wrote a bomb threat for Lyndsey, drove over a parking space curb thing (like the 5th time I have done that) and followed some people we didnt' know. Oh and I pressed the gas when her food was up on the front part of my car adn it spilled all over. Yeaaaa. But it was funny!
