    New-ness

Tomorrow morning I am beginning training at my new job at Brookshire Brothers!! I will be working in the deli and from the sound of it they will be training me in every area eventually. I've never worked in such a public arena, I guess you could call it, except for those three days in the Snack Shack at the Tillamook County Fair when I was 16... I'm thinking this will be like that, but way different, or something...

Anywhoo, if ya'll wouldn't mind praying that God quickens me to pick up my new tasks and responsibilities easily I would greatly appreciate it!

I can hardly believe that another year at IFTA is nearly over - if any of you want to come see Lily "graduate" that would be awesome! One more year and she will have her bachelor's in theology and an associate's in music. Suh-weet... Unless I am turned around and it's an associate's in theology and a bachelor's in music...whichever.

This past weekend was so busy and full of loveliness! On Friday Lily and I went to Canyon Lake and got to help celebrate Siobhan's birthday (I DO wish that girl would start at least looking a bit older - she hasn't changed a bit in the four years I've known her...); on Saturday we went to our Aunt and Uncle's house to celebrate Easter early with our family. I got to hold my new niece, Eden, and she is so gorgeous! She looks just like a doll. All my other little cousins there had Easter egg hunts, (mostly so their mum's could get lots of cute pictures with them running about holding Easter egg baskets as big as they were) and along with showering my cousin Nathan and his wife with gifts for their second baby boy, who is due on the 4th of April, we were informed that our cousin Aaron and his wife Mari are expecting their second as well! Mercy...

On Easter Sunday I was running around helping in the Ready Room and the nursery, so unfortunately I wasn't able to be in service, but that afternoon we had a young adults dinner at some friends' apartment, and it was a blast. We even got to have our own egg hunt (and it is my difficult duty to inform you that I found not a single one! For goodness' sake, you're not really supposed to hide the things!!) and there was a huge confetti egg party outside as well. Everyone looked so pretty and colorful afterwards.

OK! I think that's about all for now...God bless and keep you all!
    Love,
    SQ

    Happy New Year?

So it has been a while, I must admit - can you believe it's almost February? I'm excited for the coming month because, for one, my sister Nicole and her husband Chuck will be having their first baby! We are going to my aunt and uncle's house for the baby shower (I have always, for as long as I can remember, slipped up and called baby showers bridal showers and anniversaries honeymoons...)  in a few weeks, and I am in the process of knitting some hats for the baby. The colors are appropriately neutral concerning gender (I hope), as we won't know if it is a boy or girl until it comes. I do love new additions to the family...

I need to wash my car desperately.

After much procrastination and weeks of non-creativity I finally sent in my very-overdue writing assignment. Of course I had it all written up and only needed to format it when I suddenly realized that I didn't even like the story! So within a few hours I had written a completely different one and managed to send it off before changing my mind yet again.

I don't know...is that what is known as the "artistic temperment", or just the ability to acknowledge bad writing when you see it?

Last week I went to chapel at IFTA, which was wonderful as always. They have it every Tuesday at 10, and I'm thinking of going again tomorrow. Each week a student gives the message, and I love how you get to see people's abilites and thoughts and desires come out when they speak. Though, were I attending this year, it would eventually come my turn to speak and I'm not sure I would be so very thrilled at the thought...

I hope everyone is doing well and that the year '08 is already showing itself to be one of promise and blessing! Take care!

    Always,
    SQ

    Long Time No Blog!

     Seriously.

Thanks to everyone for the sweet birthday wishes, Merry Christmas-es, and comments in general...May this Christmas be the most memorable, most special, most joyous and most glorious for you and yours!

Today I walked in circles throughout the mall for what seemed like hours, (and, in fact, it was...) and I realized upon exiting the Land of Spending to Death that I had heard no Christmas music. None! This is perhaps due to the near-deafening roar of shoppers and overall commotion, but you would think one's very pores would be ringing with jingling bells and halls that have been decked repeatedly...

Oh well. I sang my own little carols to make up for the lack about me.

My family attended a candlelight service at our church this evening before heading over to my aunt and uncle's house to share in one of the joys the season brings: namely, White Elephant Gifts.

I got the most awesome gift to contribute towards the family tradition this year - usually I end up giving the most tacky thing (or nearly) that is unwrapped, but THIS year I found a BUG VACUUM!!!!

I wanted it for myself to be absolutely honest, and may very well have kept it if I had less sense or more greed, but I couldn't pass up giving it to some unsuspecting cousin or other and seeing their reaction. Adrian ended up choosing it, to his chagrin and his wife's utter delight. I'm not sure why she adored it so much, but she was quite upset when my Uncle Al stole it from her...

    Next year, I'm keeping it.

My brother John is here from Los Angeles, and since my two other brothers were unable to make it we are very thankful to have him here with us for the holiday.

God bless each and every one of you! Merry Christmas!
    Love,
    SQ

    Mercy Goodness.

It's Pearl Harbor Day already, can you imagine?

Christmas is rolling in upon us, and we still have yet to set up our tree!
I'll have to set Project Tree-Find into action before too much longer, lest we end up with a Charlie Brown replica...

And heavens above, I'll be 22 in a little over two weeks!!
Getting closer to the Gates of Glory every day, mm-hmm....

This Sunday our church is having one of our Love Out Loud outreaches in our parking lot; we will be giving out boxes of food, clothes, toys, and Jesus.  It should be an utterly wonderful day, but rain is forecasted so if you wouldn't mind praying that God would hold back the rain for us, it would be greatly appreciated! We will still have the outreach, but it may hinder people from coming and we definitely don't want that to be the case.

On the 16th we are having our Christmas program, which will be much more simple than last year but still wonderful - anyone who wants to come is more than welcome! The sanctuary has been remodeled so there is a lot more room available and we will only be having one performance rather than two, as we had to do last year in order to get everybody in.
    (-:

I hope everyone is doing marvelously, and if I'm not mistaken it is Olivia Atchley's birthday today, so Happy Birthday Olivia!

God bless and have a wonderful holiday season ~
    Love,
    SQ

About Me

  • I'm starting ot figure myself out a little bit more these days. It's exciting. I'm beginning to understand that even if I don't know what it is God has for my future, I know He is. And He desires me. And that's basically all that I need right now. Other than chocolate and coffee and the occasional gingersnap cookie...
