I wandered, weak and dazed, Through unfamiliar streets, Stepping in and out of time Between light and shadow. Time meant nothing to me And I felt within myself Something new, and yet I knew I was no longer who I was Something had changed. I watched myself as one may watch An errant moth, flocking to The shadows, leaving light And in rejecting it, reflecting it. I felt my eyes upon me As though I were not my own, And I lost what I had understood To be who I had been. The world swam, colors dancing, Light entrancing me and flitting 'Neath my eyelids, heat surrounding me, A breeeze whispered my name, Then I knew That I would live again. I do not understand, I don't pretend to know. And yet I feel that this is looking up And looking good for once For me. Something's starting, Here's my cue, Count to three. |
