For I am the first
and the last. I am the wife and the
virgin. I am the
mother and the daughter. I am the bride and
the bridegroom, I am she whose
wedding is great, and I have not taken a husband.
I am the silence that
is incomprehensible, and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose
sound is manifold and the word whose appearance is multiple.
You who deny me, confess me, and you who confess me, deny me. You who tell the truth about me, lie about me, and you who have lied about me,
tell the truth about me. You who know me, be ignorant of me, and those who have not known me,
let them know me.
For I am knowledge
and ignorance. I am shame and
boldness. I am shameless; I am
ashamed. I am strength and I
am fear. I am war and peace.
But I, I am
compassionate and I am cruel.
I am senseless and I
am wise.
Do not hate my
obedience and do not love my self-control.
I am she who
exists in all fears and strength in trembling. I am she who is weak, and I am well in a pleasant place.
Come forward to
childhood, and do not despise it because it is small and it is little.
And do not turn away
greatnesses in some parts from the smallnesses,
for the smallnesses are known from the greatnesses.
I am the substance
and the one who has no substance. I am control and the
uncontrollable. I am the one who is
honored, and who is praised, and who is despised scornfully. I am a mute who does not speak, and great is my multitude of words. I am she who cries out, and I am cast forth upon the face
of the earth. I am the one who cries out, and I listen.
I am the union and
the dissolution.
I am sinless,
and the root of sin derives from
me.
On the day when I am close to you, you are far away from me, and on the day when I am far away
from you, I am close to you. For I am the one who alone exists, and I have no one who will judge
me.
For I am the first
and the last.
And they will find me here and they will live, and they will not die again.
-The Thunder, Perfect Mind Nag Hammadi Gnostic Scriptures Translated by George W.
MacRae
Thunder Perfect Mind- A Short Film by Jordan Scott
Both this and the poem above found among the Gnostic Scriptures is... simply wow.. on so many levels
solo han solo??! solo.. isn't that a phone company in England? solo.. solitude. solo solidify? solo is all alone or not solo is going at it with one mind, one determination with one focused soul.
Last weekend was probably one of the best weekends ever. Everything
from our awesome teamwork on the bus and winning $$, to Pam's dried jackfruit, to Edwin and Ada's
-deep jokes, to our poser to pro snowboard skills, to the not so hot
hottub, to our insane craziness at night, to Genie pretending she didn't know a certain someone, to tubing ---- even to
soreness and bruises and my lift anxiety (diagnosed as LA by Dr.
Vivian).. can't wait until next year!
The bright point of my classes is History 105...The most interesting
class to ever appear on a UBC syllabus! We are studying the history of
modern commodities like food and consumer goods. We already did coffee
and soybeans.. now we're doing McDonalds and fast food. What can be
more interesting than that? My 2 profs are so knowledgeable and
awesome... the whole interconnectedness of everything .. and all tied
to global economics and consumerism... in a historical perspective.. this is stuff I am interested in.. I am actually excited to do readings really.. like their slogan: arts
does have more fun....
I feel like I'm just living from weekend to weekend.. everything in
between is just routine and so much work and mundaneness. This upcoming
week is going to be projects projects projects class class class
meetings meetings meetings... It's like sometimes so much stuff happens
and I get so excited over them and don't even have time to do them..
which defeats the purpose in the first place
Which explains why I'm making a post.. because I have to vent my excitement and obsessions somewhere.. get it out of my system so I can forget about them... (shouldn't they make a what I'm obsessed about section on facebook? they have everything else! I' ll make my own then...)
Stuff I'm Obsessing About Right Now
1. Bridge to Terebithia 2. Partition 3. Thierry Mugler “Perfume: Story of a Murderer” Collection Coffret Website
4. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
5. Sarah by Marek Halter
6. In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant
7. "Ghost Stories" Chantal Kreviazuk
8. His Dark Materials Special Edition

11. After Eight Dark Chocolate Thin Mints
After great self reflection.... I've come to the conclusion that I have a clinical tendancy to obsess over a lot of stuff...
Yay finals are finally over! Parties all next week! Whoohoo! Things started improving the second I finished Math 104 final Sat... I suddenly felt recharged and bursting with energy!
Saturday 7:30 pm decorated christmas tree with sister at home 8:30-10:30 pm cleaned my closet and my room (I don't think it had been this clean.. since.. well.. EVER.) 11:15 pm picked up Daphne from airport (a friend from France who is going to live with us) Sunday1:00-6:00am powered through two really, really good novels that I had to hide during finals season so I won't be tempted to read them. Finally! 6:00am randomly youtube surfing (my energy seems unlimited, I don't know why) 6:30am decided that I should sleep somewhat, so slept 11:00am up again! weee! Sunday afternoon got all Christmas shopping done
In conclusion: A very productive weekend. If I was this productive studying, then maybe I wouldn't have died in Gateman's killer-evil econ final....
But anyway... my plan of attack on Silvercity The Good Shepherd Story on the origins and founding of the CIA. Weeeee!
Letters from Iwo Jima Interesting, America's invasion of Iwo Jima in WWII seen through Japanese eyes instead. With Ken Watanabe. Weeee!
Perfume: Story of a Murderer Finally North American release of the movie! Very, very intriguing story, haunts you.
Factory Girl Biopic on Edie Sedgwick and relations with Andy Warhol. Yay biopic!
The Painted Veil Ok I heard nothing about this movie before hand. Looks good though.
DVD Attack: The Night Banquet Chinese
martial arts-drama like Crouching Tiger/Hero/House of Flying Daggers
(<worst movie ever, except to make fun of lol), except this is set
in the Tang dynasty and based on the plot and themes from Hamlet. Daniel Wu, Zhang Ziyi. Ew it
has Zhang Ziyi (ew House of Flying Daggers had her too...)
Perhaps Love An intense love story that progresses during the making of a new musical. Oooh music and costumes!
Ok I'm going to stop using exclamation marks.... Weee! Can you tell I'm excited for Christmas?
you have sixty seconds to write about it.
