They make psychiatrists get psychoanalyzed before they get to be certified, but they don't make a surgeon get cut up...does that seem right to you?

The most up to date version of the RPG can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?4gjl1fbnfxl.

The update list is at the top of the document, although it doesn't really go into much detail. You'd have to look pretty hard to find anything I changed anyway. Still, I'm not sure the old file link works anymore, so I'll put this up. Additionally, there is a small bit of background info for the setting for the current game (most of which is a refresher for everyone who played) with some information on the main islands and such. If nothing else, it's a nice refresher before we get together again.

Final Fantasy Chronicles (Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV)
By Square Enix

Yeah, so I beat chrono trigger (again, yes this is definitely in the double digits) and the ending always seems so upbeat, but then I remembered all the crap that happens in the sequel... here's what actually happens to everyone within like 10 years of the ending:

Chrono: it's implied that he dies in the Guardia war of 1005 which dissolves the kingdom you fought to protect over the last 400 years or so. Not to mention all that work you did to save him in the first place...

Lucca: finds the infant clone of princess Schala and decides to open on orphanarium where she is later murdered by Lynx and her home is burned to the ground. Lynx is trying to find the infant Kid and the dreamstone pendant which she wears and Lucca gets in the way.

Marle: the only character they actually fail to tell you what happens to. Mind you, her kingdom and husband (yeah, spikey settled down) are both gone so she's probably not all too happy.

Frog: there's this mysterious cutscene in which two shadowy figures swordfight and one dies. The loser drops the Masamune and a pale man in mystic gloves picks it up. Basically, Magus kills human Glenn and steals the sword which he needs for his quest to find Schala.

Ayla: well, she apparently pops out a ton of kids (since she's the earliest ancestor of the Guardia line). In an alternate timeline in which Lavos is never stopped, she is killed by Azala, the dino queen, which allows the lizards to take over the world and live in a more harmony with the planet. Actually, this future is probably better, since the harmony allows them to stop Lavos... You use the melody of the planet they create to free Schala from the lavos spawn at the end of Chrono cross. What's this tell you? Ayla shouldn't have had so many damn kids!

Robo: yes, everyone's favorite... and he dies. Well, he gets back to the future, and despite Lucca's worries, he still exists and spends time with his love-bot. Of course then a complex series of events involving the frozen flame, a spawn of lavos, two intersecting timelines, and an epic war between future dinos and future humans erupts after a time travel thingy... but anyway. He is killed about halfway through chrono cross when the 'prometheus circuit' (which is Robo) is destroyed while trying to help Serge and company.

Magus: everyone's least favorite (and mysteriously underpowered when you get him) character is one of the few who actually lives! (Insert rage here). Mind you, his entire life is dedicated to trying to recover his lost sister. It's suggested that he kills Glenn for the Masamune. Of course, since Schala is actually fuzed with a Lavos spawn, he is only able to locate the clone of his sister (Kid). It's implied during two instances in Chrono Cross that the character Guile is actually Magus. Even so, Schala leaves to live in the future somewhere so that she doesn't alter the timeline anymore at the end, so, although he saves his sister, he never gets to spend any time with her. Oh well.

What a miserable end that is for all those characters you spend 40 hours or so with! On the bright side, here is some GOOD news! So I got Cass an early xmas gift in the form of Rayman: Raving Rabbids 2. The first one was fun, but severely lacked in the multiplayer department (which was a bit disappointing since it was designed to be a party game), but the sequel is not only more zany than ever, but is MUCH better as a party game. Not to mention, it's way more fun than Mario Party 8 or WarioWare (take that mushroom kingdom). People will have to come over and see what I mean... even the single player-type-thing can be played with up to 4 players and you can set ridiculous scoring systems and whatnot. I've never been so happy to see a bunch of rodents conquer France with plungers and yellow submarines...

Cross your fingers; I may be the new head focus section editor for the paper if enough stars align in my favor. The interview went well, at least. Wait, was I actually giddy there for a moment? Eeeeewwww~

That's right, obey the link... oh and play the game too. How can you go wrong when Mario bros. meets dungeons and dragons?

I gave an overview of the minor changes I was making to the rulebook, but here are the official change notes for 5.1

  1. Numerous typos have been corrected (has no effect on the rules)
  2. Base stats are now determined by rolling 2d10 rather than 3d6
  3. The base stat tables are better organized for easier readability (the tables remain unchanged)
  4. Lizardmen no longer begin the game with infamy, but their reaction penalties remain unchanged
  5. Lycanthropes have been added as a playable race, and the lycanthropy disease was added
  6. Rules for attacking wildly and laying down covering fire have been added to the combat chapter
  7. Page numbers are now included on each page (now the ToC is useful rofl)
  8. A few skills have been slightly changed for better balance or to improve usefulness
    1. Armor / Weapon Proficiency / Mastery: the effects have been improved
    2. Machine Maintenance: the 1st frame HP restoring effect has been greatly reduced
    3. Mechanic: now specifically includes reattaching severed android limbs
    4. Deflect and parry stance: amended to include the new rules for wild attacks
    5. Skills which consume HP: many have been changed to also work for Android frame HP
    6. Martial Artist: changed to 1d8 damage for Lizardmen and some Lycanthropes

On a final note, you can download the full 5.1 rulebook, saved in the old MS Word format so you can open it, by clicking the following link: http://www.mediafire.com/?fgr9tehmwcc.

This file hosing service is very good and there should be zero wait for the download.
