Mr. Earl smells good

Time for another year in review as seen from behind my desk in room 122. There was a short time when no one knew if I was going to return next year, but for those of you bookworms that haven't poked your head out of a novel in several weeks: I shall return!

And that brings us to my number one highlight from the 2005-2006 school year:

  • Special thanks to everyone involved in the student-led petition to keep me here, although I never saw it. If anyone can bring me the petition, I'll frame it and hang it!

The rest of these highlights are listed in no particular order. I'm just free writing them off the top of my head. (what do you want, an eleven sentence paragraph? A five paragraph essay?)

  1. Kudos to the American Voices class and the amazing birthday chair. And in case any ex-freshmen are wondering, NO, we did not have a party!
  2. Whitney got to finish the year this time!
  3. Hice being blown over Newton in a strong breeze. (Kidding of course)
  4. Clare and her amazingly brave Thumb Song
  5. R&E panic over their memoirs/ research paper
  6. Candid, cut to the bone, heart stomping discussion with Nikki
  7. Corrie and Aaron stalking me after school (and Jo and Heather and Amanda and Toni Bologna and others...)
  8. I hope Destiny finds her destiny....yeah, still a lame joke
  9. Chasity and Harvey should co-create a new computer lab for Chasity to hide from her life in
  10. Nearly triple digit cell phone confiscations!!! (so don't feel picked on)
  11. Amber's superball-during-final-exams-blush
  12. Fruit Loop and Pop Tart (you know who you are)
  13. A little too much personal space in my personal space with Cory and Amanda
  14. The Hiett hair-do
  15. Stephen "getting" Romeo and Juliet
  16. Where do I even begin with Sharp? Nuttier than an almond, fruitier than a hairy buffalo
  17. Invisi-Alex
  18. Dez and the 100 pieces of chalk thrown her way
  19. Tharp and her impressive campaign--- Jake still plays with his telescope!
  20. Kyle "I never called him a moron" Bass
  21. Whitney and Lacey at the Dragon's game (how DO you work those chairs?)
  22. One thing I've learned: There are no winners in the "Big Head"/ "Big Chin" battle
  23. Locking Michelle out of class was not only necessary, it was fun!
  24. TRANSCENDENTALISTS, UNITE!!! (a bit of irony in there)
  25. Quality time during Red and Black drills
  26. Brunner and his winder
  27. Tommy, Brunner, the signs, and the fake police hunt
  28. Bottles, silly string, puritans and the Czar
  29. Who do we mix together to get a portrait of Tran?
  30. Honors Assembly? I say we toss paper balls and trash cans for 3 hours instead!

Of course, I'm sure I missed some events and people that should have been included in this list. Feel free to remind me of some of YOUR highlights from this year. Write me a poem about your freshman year that I can share with the newbies in August.

Don't forget to turn off your TV/computer/ipod every once in a while this summer. Outside is a good place. The world is wide and waiting for you to do something with it. Don't let us down.

Earl

Only because Tran insists!! Here's an update, you wierd little cyber-monkeys!

05 has come and gone and Whitney was my aide, but now she's not. Corrie's mad at me because she has a foul mouth, and I wrote detentions last week until my hand cramped. Too many naughty freshmen (especially in Adv). Everybody in there is trying to make me blush over Romeo&Juliet. Newsflash: I've read it before, so it won't work.

I'm still looking for new music that I don't hate. Any suggestions? Mat still hasn't brought me a FeatherDust CD, so I guess I'm back to cranking up the elephants. It's ok. We still like him. We had a good time hanging out in ISI during exams. Kali read me a very cool poem the other day. Thanks for sharing.

I have a new camara, so I need to collect some WC shots to upload to this site. I'm thinking the more embarrassing, the better! Post again when Tran forces me to.

I know you know when her birthday is.... you're missing the fun of everyone calling her to wish a happy bday in the middle of the summer for no reason.

Go outside and quit reading this useless weblog!!

Good job becoming good geeks!

Summer is slipping away; get out and enjoy it before it's all over.

What are you doing checking this aimless weblog? I said go outside!

Obviously you are still too stubborn to listen to me, so I might as well catch you up. I went to New Mexico early in July for my best friend's wedding. New Mexico is baffling. It is neither new nor is it Mexico. You figure it out. We had a great time until we got a flat tire on a dirt road in the middle of the desert. Unfortunately we didn't survive. We are all dead.

Ok. We were dead before we left. But enough of my lies.

I told my brother's wife that my telescope was powerful enough to see men on the moon (if there were any up there) and she believed me. So we are going to check out the full moon and I'm going to convince her that there is a military station hidden in one of the craters. She'll buy it. Heck, she couldn't even get through LOTF and she's had the book since May. But enough picking on her.

I hear Whitney's doing well and wants everyone to call her and wish her a happy birthday on August 1st. Look her up.

So far I've read: The Giver, Anthem, Black Like Me, The Chocolate War, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Bleak House, Letters from Earth, and most of this book about Frankie Silver.

How 'bout you? What have you been doing?
