  • Bacteria are all around us. They're unavoidable. Yet, somehow, there are two very different approaches as to how we should deal with them. Before the invention of antibacterial soap, people dealt with sickness very often. Their immune systems grew stronger with every sickness, until they became resistant to many of the common bacteria we deal with. Then humans learned how to destroy bacteria that cause common illnesses, conveniently helping people avoid most bacterial infections. Now our immune systems are much weaker, and we've grown to depend on antibiotics to deal with many illnesses. Interestingly enough, allergies have increased recently. Many allergies result from an immune system which overreacts to bacteria. So by avoiding contact with many bacteria, we've kept our immune systems from "training", or developing resistance to bacteria.

Bacteria and conflict are very similar in ways. Both are unavoidable; although many people may wish to never experience conflict, and may try to avoid it as much as possible, conflict does not go away. If you learn to deal with conflict, you can mature and come out stronger from your encounter. Just a thought.
