Deal with it...
• Ex 2:2a I am the Lord your God
It makes no difference what ideas rattle around inside your head. God is still God. Deal with it.

• Job 40:9 Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
Can we compete with Him? Are you such a fool as to imagine you can? He does what we cannot. We can't do it all, not ourselves personally nor ourselves collectively as a team, a culture, or a race. Even if we had the knowledge and the right, we would still lack the power. We can't, he can, deal with it.

• Job 41:11 Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.
It isn't ours and never was. We are the property, not the owner. We aren't in charge and we can't give to God what is already His. Get over your own self importance. Just deal with it.

• Prov 16:4 The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.
All the time I hear about how God is unfair, and people complaining about why evil exists and why bad things happen to good people. God is God (see above), God has the power (see above), and its His to do with as He sees fit (see above). Yes, he created the people and spiritual beings that are evil. He knew it, he has a plan. We don't have to understand and it makes no difference whether we think its fair or not. We aren't perfect, we aren't God, we need to shut up our grumbling self-important selves and get humble. Trouble is coming, and even trouble has a purpose. We don't have to like it, but we do have to deal with it.

• Is 45:18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the Lord, and there is no other.
Once again, it ain't us, its HIM in charge. Need I remind you: deal with it...

• Acts 17:24-25 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
Church buildings aren't God's house. We can build them, but that doesn't mean He'll come. Jesus declaired his body was a temple. His example is the one to learn from. The Spirit resides in the heart of the redeemed, not the building of the refinanced. Your church won't get you to heaven. That requires forgiveness, and forgiveness is the gift of God. While it can't be earned, it can be rejected. Jesus doesn't demand us to believe, but he does demand we believe if we want to be saved. Faith is no small matter and it isn't a mere statement we make. It is a way of life. It does not require perfection on our part, Jesus was already perfect, but it does require earnest submission and commitment.

If you think you can find another way to eternal life, good luck with that. You won't. Deal with it.

PS - If I offended anyone with yesterday's make-believe tabloid, it was all in fun and there was a moral to the story, but regardless of the attempt at redemption, I am sorry if I offended anyone. If I offended anyone with today's post, ask yourself - is it Lance offending you, or SomeOne Else? Deal with it...

Wow - this was rough! God sounds like a selfish jerk. Dorian Gray! I am glad you are back to yourself though, I was worried yesterday that aliens had taken over the world! ???? about  Pro. 16:4 - I have taken some hits over this one myself. Did you say God created evil? I have heard that God only created and the creation morphed/metaphorsis/transformed into evil by choice of action and deed and thought. I was told that evil does not necessarily begot evil, for example, my dad, and us kids....but then there is the question of the "bad seed", "generational curses". I have heard that God uses evil to his own good. That is different than creating it. I  know open a can of worms get something unpleastant to chew on and shallow! Also about that verse - and your comments - he who whines shall be heard. Remember the pesty old lady that keep bugging Jesus and finally he heard and answered her need. We are to pray without ceasing - sometimes are prayers are complaints. God communicates in various ways so do we. Now I know God warns us about being hard-headed, and whiny, but maybe if I cry loud enough the rocks will fall upon me. Hee Hee...Ops that wouldn't be marytr-ing,  that'd  leave a mark!

I wonder if more believers would let God sit on the throne instead of trying to sit on it themselves, if there would be less stress in our lives...

ryc:  it is the personality which puzzles me the most as well.  as i start relating it to something "human," something earthly that i can understand relatively easily.  i inevitably spiral downward as i try to "rationalize God's moods", and wonder if it pleased God that pharoah was made hard hearted.

wow..tangent..

I've been seeing Acts 17 a lot lately - these verses in particular. This whole thing is where living by faith comes in. Unfortunately, so much of what some may call "living by faith" is nothing more than depending on our own reasoning, feelings, abilities, etc. and not really faith at all. Anyway - slight sidetrack there but I really appreciated this post.

"Your church won't get you to heaven."

This reminds me of a conversation Sunday about some folks in the state advocating for someone to teach the grade school kids at family camp who is an avowed non-Christian... so that this person can be "loved into the family."

Someone's response was, "She should learn more about the Church of God first."

My response? "She should learn more about the bible and Jesus first. The church means nothing without Him!"

Now I can add, "Deal with It!"

Hey Lance,

I agree with you on the judgement vs discerment thing. I think that to progress through life with a lack of discernment would be deep folly.

Thanks for commenting.

Shalom!

"Get over it" (close to "Deal with it") carries some hard denotations with me due to a past relationship. It is still a painful phrase to hear, but when I hear it from God's perspective it come out a bit less harsh. Long story short on the Meyers-Briggs I went from being 50/50 on Thinking/Feeling to almost 100% feeling because of how uncaring that phrase can come out. I point no finger at you, for I see how you have used it is a very practical and still hard to swallow at times thing when coming from God and His ability and power. Still, it is difficult for me personally to deal with, but in these such cases as used I must indeed deal with it and realize the beauty which comes from that phrase at times.

Sometimes I wonder if there shouldn't be a softer way to say it, while I am conflicted with how there really isn't much of a reason to soften a statement which so perfectly describes how we must deal with it.

Good post, though difficult indeed.

God bless,
~Scott

Loved your post.  Would love to some time just tell my clients "There is no other way - Deal with it!"  Would you mind if I printed it out and shared it with some of them?

Most of you're deal with it's are true such as Jesus being the only way but for His children  sometimes God wants us to intercede and not just "deal with it". examplws of this include

Moses: he could have just let God rebuild Israel through him

Hezekiah: he could have set his house in order but he cried out and was granted 15 more years of life

Hannah: who was barren and was granted Samuel

and many more yes God is God but he lets his children influence Him in many things.

Heather - I understand.

Steve - Yes we do.

Poet Rose - Well, I suppose I did lay it on a little thick, but then all I did was quote scripture and put in my two cents. The fact remains, God is God and we are not. That said, as some other folks pointed out, this isn't the end of the story, but the beginning. Step 1 is ADMIT. Step 2 is SUBMIT, then COMMIT and TRANSMIT follow. You gave me that list, and it was brilliant.

Shell - There's nothing there to wonder about.

Erin - That's one hard thing to discern from scripture, and I know it is a stumbling block to some. I don't know that I have an answer, but I can rest assured there is one and if I really need to know it, it will be revealed.

Carrie - Point well made.

Jenn - No Prob.

Pyro - You did? Great. Thanks!

Tina - To be honest I was wondering how you'd respond to that part. I figured you'd respond as you did, and you didn't let me down.

Pheebles - Thank you.

Scott - I figured this would be a tough pill for some of my readers to swallow. I'm sorry if it was hard for you to work through, but I'm thankful you were able to articulate to me your concerns. Our Lord is a loving God, but love has many dimensions and it includes some things that aren't easy.

Umnenga - Feel free to share.

Daniel - As I mentioned to Poet Rose above, learning to "deal with it" is just the start, not the end. You bring up good points. Thank you.

It is a splash of cold water for me at the times when I'm having a pity party or come dangerously close to wondering "why is God allowing this?" It is blunt -- but needs to be said. Great post.
