((received this via email from my friend Ken... very thought provoking))
Cell phone vs Bible
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go.... hmm.... where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.
And no dropped calls!
Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities?

USA Immigrant: "God Saved Us from the Bulldozer"
The Jerusalem Post carried this account today of an immigrant to Israel fromBaltimore who came perilously close to being victims of the bulldozer terrorist on Wednesday in Jerusalem.
The father of three who immigrated with his family from Baltimore, Maryland, four years ago, said God saved them from Jerusalem's bulldozer-driving terrorist.
"The guy was driving about 30 miles an hour, probably the maximum speed that bulldozer could go," Eissenstat continued. "I tried to back up to get out of the way but cars behind me blocked me."
"The right wheel of the bulldozer crushed a taxi cab and the left wheel crushed our Mazda. He saw that he did not kill [us]. I looked at him and he looked at me. And all that I could think was, 'How do I get my family out of this.'
"Then he put the bulldozer in reverse. He wanted to finish off the job. He ran over us again. But nothing happened to us. Then he lowered the shovel on us and began crushing the roof of the car. My daughter Nechama put her arm over her head to protect herself.
"For reasons unknown to us Hashem/Adonai did not let him kill us. I think he [the terrorist] realized that and decided to move on to someone else."
Rabbi Menachem Kutner, head of the Chabad project in Sderot, said he was certain the Eissenstats' salvation was in part a result of their charity to terror victims.
"Eissenstat and his family were unique donors," Kutner said. "They did not just write a check and send it, they themselves came and visited the terrorist victims. They involved themselves, using their feet to walk from victim to victim and their hands to comfort the injured.
"Because they used their bodies to perform the mitzva of visiting the sick, Hashem/Adonai protected their bodies from the terrorist."
Despite her narrow escape, Nechama, who turns 14 next week, said she wasn't sorry about her family's decision to immigrate to Israel.
"I am happy to be here in the Land of Israel," she said.
A marvelous testimonial to the biblical principle that our giving of ourselves to others comes back to us in our hour of need. Baruch Hashem for the preservation of the Eissenstats' family.

Alcohol
I know someone who thinks that alcohol is not something that Believers in Messiah should partake in. But I don't see that as scriptural.
I do see however that the abuse of alcohol, partaking in it until one becomes drunk is wrong and/or destructive, but not alcohol in moderation.
I don't see it as anymore wrong than eating food. Food is something that we can abuse too and gluttony (with food) is a sin, same as being drunk with alcohol.
I'm guessing this person doesn't realize that we drink. ROFL And I'm having a hard time bringing up this subject with them. So I wrote a down some verses and wanted to get your opinions on it. Feel free to correct spelling, gramar, attitude, add or whatever you see.
******************************************
Is it right to say that alcohol is not permitted?
Lev 10:8-11
8 The LORD then spoke to Aaron, saying, 9 “Do not drink wine or strong drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, so that you will not die—it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations— 10 and so as to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean, 11 and so as to teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them through Moses.”
Who is God talking to, All of Israel or Aaron and his sons?
Numbers 6
1 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When a man or woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazarite, to dedicate himself to the LORD, 3 he shall abstain from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar, whether made from wine or strong drink, nor shall he drink any grape juice nor eat fresh or dried grapes. 4 ‘All the days of his separation he shall not eat anything that is produced by the grape vine, from the seeds even to the skin.
5 ‘All the days of his vow of separation no razor shall pass over his head. He shall be holy until the days are fulfilled for which he separated himself to the LORD; he shall let the locks of hair on his head grow long.
Who is God talking about, all of Israel or an individual who makes a vow for a designated length of time (Nazarite vow)?
Duet 14:26
24 “If the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the LORD your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the LORD your God blesses you, 25 then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses. 26 “You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household. 27 “Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.
This is the Lord speaking about the Feast of Sukkot and this is how he tells them to spend their tithe. Is the Lord wrong?
The Bible also says:
Proverbs 20
1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler,
And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
And I would say that this is good too. Alcohol should not be abused just like food should not be abused. But that doesn't mean that we must completely abstain from food. If never drinking alcohol is more righteous, then people who die from anorexia are more righteous than people who eat food.
Proverbs 23
20 Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine,
Or with gluttonous eaters of meat;
21 For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty,
And drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
Duet 21:20
18 “If any man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father or his mother, and when they chastise him, he will not even listen to them, 19 then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his hometown. 20 “They shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey us, he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21 “Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so you shall remove the evil from your midst, and all Israel will hear of it and fear.
Matthew 11:19
18 Because John didn't come eating or drinking, yet people say, ‘He has a demon!’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
1 Corinthians 5:11
I wrote to you in my letter to stop associating with people who are sexually immoral— 10not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, greedy, robbers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now I am writing to you to stop associating with any so-called brother if he is sexually immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunk, or a robber. You must even stop eating with someone like that. 12After all, is it my business to judge outsiders? You are to judge those who are in the community, aren't you? 13God will judge outsiders. “Expell that wicked man.”[c]
Greed could be glutton and obviously a drunk is someone who abuses alcohol, but it doesn't mean people who eat and drink alcohol, it means people who are greedy and drunks.
I know you don't drink, but there is a difference between having a drink or two and getting drunk. It's not right to judge people by man made laws of complete abstinence from alcohol.

Last Weekend
ok, I'm taking a break from my household duties, since I just finished up the lawn mowing (7 lots total), thank the LORD for riding lawn mowers! Because even at 8:30 am it's HOT out there... ok it wasn't so bad at 8:30 but it most definitely wasn't so nice by 10am.
FRIDAY
Jason/Koldodi took Friday off so that we could get stuff together so we could leave by (ROFL) 10 am so that we'd have several hours before the wedding started in Houston. Or at least that's what he thought was going to happen.
Yeah right.
I was aiming for leaving around lunch (because that's how things work around here), but we were moving at the speed of slug and so that didn't happen either.
Did I mention that it takes 4 to 5 hours to get to Houston from our place? And that really isn't taking into account for bad traffic.
So we left at 3pm. THREE PM!
Jason was really stressing by this point and then we noticed that we forgot our wedding present and had to go back to get it.
He at first didn't want to turn around and get it. He knew that his parents were probably going to be a bit pissy about us being so late. But we talked it out and we decided that us (cousins and cousin-in-law) aren't THAT important at the wedding, our kids aren't to the age were they even like going to them really. It's hard to be quiet that long when there's SO MUCH they really want to discuss with you about the whole ordeal. LOL
We decided instead of stressing over getting to the wedding on time, we should concentrate instead on making this an enjoyable trip for the family and have a good time at the wedding reception. I love wedding receptions. I don't care if all you have is cake and punch or a four course meal. It's funnest part of the wedding!
There's family and friends, some type of refreshments, congratulating the Groom and Bride and you get to give them your gift if you haven't already.
I'm a quality time person. I dig quality in my relationships.
To me: No Quality= No Relationship worth mentioning.
Anyway, after we decided that this would be a much better thing for us to focus on instead of that "WE'RE LATE!!!!!", things really started to settle down and we enjoyed the trip.
Yeah, some family looked at us a little funny but what's new.
We gave our gift and had a wonderful time celebrating!
And we spent the night with Jason's Sister, Brother-in-law and niece.
SATURDAY
Jason's Sister decided that for her brother's birthday she wanted to take him and ALL OF US (6 total) to Schlitterbahns water park in Galveston Tx. We were supposed to load up really early and take off to meet up with our Brother-in-laws family that was going join up with us.- we didn't get up early because we were all so DOG tired from the night before staying up late at Aunt Harriet and Uncle Stan's new house tour. But we (koldodi and I) did get our family dressed and up before anyone else was ready to leave.
That's quite an accomplishment considering we have four young kids. - we were doing just fine until we got to Galveston Island and our car started overheating because of all the stop and go traffic. We didn't know our car was having that sort of trouble since we aren't in stop and go traffic much since we left Dallas YEARS ago. So we had to pull over, give it more antifreeze (or whatever that junk was he poured in) and we babied it to the water park.
- We finally get there and get in.
- For some reason Koldodi is taking along time getting in, I don't know if it was because he was helping BIL with the coolers or what exactly.
- So SIL and her extended family suggest going on the Lazy River instead of just sitting there.
- I said OK. LOL Should have went with my gut.
- We forgot our life jackets for the kids and I had to put them on the ones they have at the park, and they're nice enough but I wasn't sure which size to get them.
- I ended up getting my two older ones life jackets that were a bit too big, so we stopped at the next beach area on the Lazy River and I was switching them our for a smaller size.
- I finally finish adjusting all the straps, go to get on my floaty and realize that I can't find one of my children.
- Eliyahu (Elijah) is MISSING
We spent at least 45 minutes looking for him. It's a huge place. It's JAM PACKED. I walked around that place 3x. Each time feeling more and more desperate. My feet were hurting from walking on that hard cement so briskly with no shoes on, I had to push that thought out of my mind over and over.
Finally, after my third lap Jason finds me and tells me that our BIL's brother found him. He was half way across the park playing at a beach area. He had been swept away on accident by the current and that was the first beach that he was able to get up on. The current is pretty swift and he isn't a good swimmer yet. He was having a good time playing but he was starting to get worried.
Then it happened that flood of emotion, the relief and joy of knowing my son was found HIT me. All of it pouring out right there in front of complete strangers. No telling what they must have thought, if they even noticed me because it was becoming more and more packed, people were still streaming in.
I'm still thanking HIM. Still so amazed how he cares so much for someone as insignificant as me or my son.
We people are like an oxymoron:
we are insignificant and yet significant to the MOST significant God.
Jewel and Eliyahu were separated from us on accident they were swept down a different path on the Lazy River (which isn't so lazy on some parts) and they braved the rapids without us. The Lord sent people to help them (they almost tipped over a few times) and they made it through at the same exact time that we made it to the exit for their path.
Overall we had a great time at the water park. The only thing I didn't like was seeing so much skin. My boys are little right now, so it wasn't such an issue, but I can't take them there again if everywhere they turn there's some woman about to fall out of what little she has on to begin with.
Wish it wasn't that way, but we'll live.
We ate at Cici's pizza place with my SIL and her family, had fun.
Arrived back in East Texas at 3am in the morning
SUNDAY
We felt like death warmed over. That Lazy River worked our pathetically out of shape bodies OVER.
It was like we had been hit by a train. Took us two days to recover from all that.
Anyway, next time I get on here I'm going to be catching up with you guys.
Oh, let's throw in a kid funny:
Eliyahu can't always remember how to pronounce Schlitterbahn, so he's been telling people we went to
Sh*tterbombs. ROFL
- we didn't get up early because we were all so DOG tired from the night before staying up late at Aunt Harriet and Uncle Stan's new house tour. But we (koldodi and I) did get our family dressed and up before anyone else was ready to leave.
