when in doubt, keep your trap closed

    tip of the month:

if at any time you find yourself in the vicinity of a pregnant woman, the following is a list of things it would be really rude for you to do:
*rub her belly if you don't know her (whether you ask permission or not, it's still unacceptable)
*stop to tell her every horrible pregnancy/delivery story you've  ever heard or witnessed
*tell her she should not be drinking that tea/coffee/pop or eating that donut/lunchmeat or just giving her a rundown of the diet she should be sticking to
*tell her that regardless of what she says now, she WILL spoil her children ()

the following *should* not result in any harm to your person:
*offering- once- to help her lift something heavy if she's alone
    *saying "congratulations"
    *leaving her completely alone

really, it's a matter of common courtesy.

    cheers!

  • hey, baby!!

um, i am also sitting in the holiday inn with tim and jenna.
and brian, who's not pregnant. but his wife is.

quote of the week: "i'm not giving my baby to a white cop." (the shield)

back in the day when i used to xanga every day, i think i really had more interesting things to say.

the only work story i really have is that i've started saying "you're welcome" to people at the self checkouts who never say "thank you". it's kind of fun because what are they going to say if they complain? "i never said thank you"??

ok, i better go get dressed and hit the hip town of columbia with the crew.

    cheers!

burn, baby, burn (and other happenings)

    welp, it's me again.

does anyone even read these anymore? you all probably think i dropped off the face of the planet or something.

    i didn't.

but sometimes working at home depot feels like it.

so, a few weeks ago i got my "final notice write-up" at work (if you don't know what that means- um, it's not a good thing. basically it gives them the right from here on out to fire me for anything at anytime). oddly enough, last week they started talking about giving me a promotion of sorts. wow, i must be a real troublemaker, eh?

so this gross guy started hitting on me at work the other day. one of the guys i work with (part of a group i fondly refer to as "my boys") came over when he saw what was going on. and then he proceeded to stand there, be amused, and not even try to intervene.

(which led to me making the above face at him)

when the icky guy finally left, i walked over and said, "the next time i give you that look you're my husband until the customer leaves, got it?"

he just continued to be amused.

so we tried this Church of Christ last sunday. don't worry- the billboard outside said, "founded in 33 ad". you better believe i had to compose myself before we walked in the building.

i forgot how quiet those churches are.

the people were nice. i'm not sure we'll be going back.

in other news, we woke up one morning last week at precisely 2:18 am. for a second we both sat there, not sure who had woken up first or why we were both awake at all. then i noticed lights flashing through our bedroom window.

long story short: our downstairs neighbor's car was on fire.

our landlord thinks it might have been a drug vendetta.

and i thought I  watched the shield too much.

    but he's probably right.

anyway, we're actually in town to check up on sbu (don't tell anyone, but it's a baptist university). we're thinking about going back for teaching degrees.

so maybe i better get on that.

    i missed this.

    cheers!

    *ps*

so, it turns out i'm still in love with donald miller.
i've now officially read all of his books.
and i'm ready to take a road trip to oregon.

    *the real end*

    *edit*
after i posted this i went back and looked at my entries from one and two years ago. man, i miss xanga. i think it would be some kind of crime against myself not to get internet (and, um, maybe a computer?) so that i can start posting again. i never realized how good it is for me.
and, let's not kid ourselves- for you. lol.
anyway. time to go grocery shopping and figure out what i'm making for dinner tonight.
    until we meet again....
    *end edit*

the first movie we watched in the theater this year was Sweeny Todd.

(have i mentioned i'm considering becoming a vegitarian?  lol.)

my husband gave me The Chronicles of Narnia for Christmas. i finished it yesterday.

i kind of want to start reading it all over again.

don't get ahead of yourself with excitement because i'm posting- we still don't have internet. i'm writing my first newsletter article of the year and thought i'd give a quick hi-hello while i was on an internet accessing computer.

    *public service announcement*
just a few tips about self checkouts for the new year:
1- they're called SELF checkouts for a reason
2- if you don't want to check yourself out, don't walk up to them and then complain loudly that you don't want to check yourself out and that you'd like to be waited on by a real person. that's like walking into a candy shop and shouting, "i don't WANT candy. where's the REAL food?!?"
3- the store employee standing in the self checkout area is there to help, not check you out. that's what the acutal registers are for
4- be nice. the employee running the self checkouts didn't invent them and they don't want to hear your complaints about them.
i guarantee following these tips will make you less grouchy and some poor cashier's day more bearable.
    *end public service announcement*

i think being out of school is making my brain lazy.

    alright, back to writing.

    keep it real.

    cheers!

  • onto even numbers

lack of internet access aside, it IS the last day of 2007. so i had to say something.

we're visiting some friends. it's been good times.

i don't remember the last time i spent this much time with friends NOT wearing an orange apron.

ok, enough year-end thoughts. dinner's ready.

    i'm excited for 2008. we'll see...

    cheers!
