The friday before my work closed its doors I filled out an online application for this global company that handles several clients, though the branch I applied at handles medicare stuffs.
Tuesday, while I was sub'ing at Nicoley-ole's daycare, the main recruiter from their home office in TX both left me a phone message AND an email in response.
I left a message and email for her Wed.
Thursday she called me back. We spoke on the phone for about a half an hour about my application. She emailed me a 4 page application that was more in-depth to fill out and fax to her, so she could file it and fax it to the interviewer I would speak to here in the City, and she set up an interview time for Monday at 2:30.
Today I went in and spoke to two very warm, friendly women. I had no jitters, oddly enough, and was honestly surprised, after the laughing and joking, and my obvious qualifications, when they said, "we'll let you know by the end of the week." But I still felt good.
I had not been in my car for 5 minutes when my cell rang. "Hi, this is Tennika. I hate to do this to you since you just left, but would you be able to come back in today, or if not today then tomorrow?? I'd like to offer you the position. After you left, I said I liked you, and she asked me why I didnt say something, b/c she liked you too."
She said the other lady said, "I wrote a 'y' on my paper ... that meant yes!!" hehehe
So I went back in, filled out the paper work, and pending the drug and background check, I start Monday!!!
The drug test was weird ... it was a hair follicle test where they cut your hair to test!!
So the job ...
I will be handling claims and policy questions for medicare. I will be speaking to policy holders and providers alike. People with every where from 8th grade level educations to doctors. In-bound calls.
It will be 8:30 - 5:30 Monday-Friday
I get 10 paid holidays a year
3 weeks of vacation
Day-one insurance
I start at $10 p/h ($4 p/h pay cut, and less than a friend told me they started at, but better than most places that have the schedule I need) with quarterly reviews for raises. They also have lots of room for advancement. And she said she has a good feeling about me. :)
The hours are flexible, in that I can come in half an hour late and take a half an hour lunch, or come in at 8:30 and take an hour lunch. I can use vacation time for doctor's appointments, or I can take shorter lunches for a few days in one week and use that time for the appointment, that sort of thing.
They also do tuition reimbursement, and have some pretty cool discounts with different places.
I also get my own desk. :)
The people seem really great and they said it's a pretty laid back atmosphere.
I'm very excited.
:) :) :)
YAY!!!!!
