What, O, what do I do? A female cat has a new born litter of four kittens on my property. I already have 5 cats in the house...can't afford any more. SPCA will not take them, neighbors don't want them. It's gotten to the point that I'm thinking euthanasia, if I knew of a humane method, but doubt if I could go through with it. What am I turning into....the old lady that dies with a hundred cats in her house, her body half eaten when she is finally discovered?

it is a shame when such things happen - as evil as it may seem, killing them may be the most humane thing - feral cats are hard to even give away.  not a happy thing.  but you have been kind to the cats you have and of that you can be proud.  peace & luv, Al

I understand your dilemma. I'd feel the same in a similar situation. But since I'm not in it, I can have an external point of view, and that one shows me even more unwanted kittens when these kittens will become sexually mature to breed more kittens, and so on, and so on. So in my view, euthanasia will spare a lot of kitten hardship for these kittens to be. On the other hand, if specialized organizations would charge you bundles to have these kittens which are not yours euthanized, I'd be in deep shit to give counsel on this because I don't think I could do it myself. Stuck with this problem, I'd try to find someone willing to do it, pinch my nose, close my eyes, and not think about it. Then I'd go to city hall and blast the bastards for financially dumping on you a responsibility which is theirs.

BTW, I once had to bring to euthanasia a beautiful cat I liked a lot and which I had had for many years, and four of her offsprings from two litters. It was a terrible ordeal, but I survived. It leaves a trace though. That's life. So to speak.

Good gosh...I've seen that happen.
