Our Trip To Salzburg

Yes I am back after a two months break from blogging.

I did mention in my earlier blog to share about my trip to Salzburg.  Well, here is it:

IMG_2658 This was taken in St Stephen's Cathedral in the heart of Vienna.  It was a pleasant surprise for Miriam and myself to see the cathedral so well lit only to realise that they were doing some filming inside.

Salzburg is the birth place of Mozart and on our way there we got to see the beautiful Salzkammerger landscape with its mountains and its numerous lakes. However, the must see place is Mozart's birth place.

IMG_2672 This is the courtyard before we visit the museum in the background.  This is located in the Gerreidegasse about 15 minutes on bus from the Central train station.  Do join the walking tour which cost around 15 Euro per person.  The guide is very knowledgeable and spoke in German and English.IMG_2683 This is the internal of St Peter's Abbey Church. Not far form this place is the graveyard where Mozart's sister Nannerl was buried.

Not to be missed is Hohensalzburg Fortress, we have to take a cable car up the fortress.  Up at the Fortress you get a panoramic view of SalzburgIMG_2688 IMG_2691 This is the trolley or cable car thjat we took to go up to the Fortress.

IMG_2719 Well how we wish we could spend more time in Salzburg. But all good things must come to an end as we only have one day in Salzburg we have to rush back to Vienna because the next day we were flying back home via Zurich.

Time in Adelaide

Well, I am finally back blogging after three months.

IMG_3765

Last week was spent in Adelaide to help Samuel settle down at the University.  Samuel will be doing a double degree in International Studies and Media and will be there for four years. We are truly thankful to God for His provision and the opportunity for Sam.

Adelaide is truly a very liveable city as the the population is only around 1.6 million and speed limit around the city is 60kph.  We really enjoyed our stay in Adeliade as there is no rush and the people are friendly and very patient.

IMG_3608 We had a good time with Joseph and Samantha last Sunday spending our time at the beautiful beach town of Glenelg and had a sumptous meal of oyster. Samanatha is doing Drama and Theatre Studies in her second year at Flinders University

Miriam and I took the opportunity to spend some time touring round Adeliade and took a drive down to Hahndorf.IMG_3734

Holidaying in Switzerland & Austria

Last month Miriam and I spent a week in Lucerne, Zurich and Vienna.  It was a wonderful holiday.  First time in 25 years of our marriage that we were having a holiday with just the two of us.  It was great.

The weather was excellent in Switzerland, around 16 degree C. The train journey from Lucerne to Interlaken was very pleasant with many beautiful scenery like those below.

We also have a great time in Interlaken.  Here we have the rare opportunity to take in the sights of Matterhorn.

IMG_2369 IMG_2393 This was taken at the famous Chapel Bridge at Lucerne

IMG_2636 In Vienna the weather was much colder. It was around 10 deg C and below 10 at night!  The picture above is the famous Schonbrunn PalaceIMG_2644

Well so much for now.  Will share more on Salzburg, the land of Mozart and The Sound of Music another day.

West Zone Mini Camp

A week had passed since we returned from Harris Resort, Batam.  This is the first time our Church have a mini camp, and frankly I just moved by faith when I first mooted the idea. Thank God fro a great team of co-workers who worked very hard to make sure the camp turned out smoothly.  Praise be to God!  Imagine Boon Wah and Joanna went to the National Library to research on the team-building games. Wow, that's what I call commitment.

Stephen Koh had been a great help in negotiating with the resort to get the best deal for all of us and Eliam and Sharon was just fantastic in leading us in praise and worship.  Of course without the musician the worship would be wanting; that's why Mingze and Jimmy played such an important part in making sure that the music was just right. Praise the Lord.

It was the team building event that we really had lots of fun, especially the "River Crossing", "Star Formation' and the "Tic Tac Toe" game.

Thank God the different cells in the West Zone really had a good time bonding together during the games, the talent night and especially the long "makan" time.  Praise the Lord!

All in all thank you to Janet, Tat Loong who were great co-workers in both planning and helping to reach out to the two cells they are caring for.  Not forgeting Samantha who helped out in designing the camp booklet.  Of course Sarah and Samuel who were the back-up singers provided the atmosphere for worship!

Last but certainly not least is Miriam my better half, who was very meticulous in both planning and execution of all the different tasks of this camp and even in taking care of all the children so that all campers can have a stress free camp. Thank you dear!
