Ocean
Water lashes against the shore.
The waves devour the night
looming over the stars and moon.
foam melts into the sand.
The sirens of the sea call to the earth
singing of the land they will never touch
their voices mix with the wind
and cerridwen of the moon
calls the water to the sky.
The sirens reach and reach,
then cry in fury
as they come crashing
down upon the rocks.
their yells become nothing more then the surf.
The air is made of ice and salt
both sting
both call the soul from sleep.
Until the body is nothing more then a meaningless vessel.
forgotten in the mist
that rolls from the wakes and currents of the ocean.
the creatures from the water watch in envy
as the creatures of the earth fling themselves among the sand and shells,
the sea spirits call to them
tempting them
how strange it be
if they knew how much we
envied them
in their palaces of myth
for knowing the last secrets of the world.
