Halfway Home

Well,, as i had noted in the last entry, I am currently in Finals. it's a two week period,, quite a mental gauntlet. We had a test on Torts(Negligence & Defenses) and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure(This is how lawsuits are conducted and go through the court systems)

I'm feeling pretty confident,, i don't know if this confidence is well founded or not,,, but it is there. I typed 32 pages on my Torts final,, my fingers were just typing away at the most ridiculous, frenetic pace ever seen by either man or beast.

Secondly,, we had the office Christmas Party last night. I sure am happy w/ everyone at work,, lots of nice folks there,, and i get along well w/ most everyone. I think i really landed in a pretty good spot over at Marquis and Aurbach.

Ok,, back to football,, the Steelers are really putting on a show. I guess they got my open letter. Phew.

Ok, lemme give y'all a quick update on just what Mister Frank has been up to.

I am currently in finals for my first semester of Law School. In some ways it has been tougher than i thought,, and in some ways not. It has been a tremendous time commitment,, it does take as much time as a job.

I retained my job at the firm I work at,, hopefully it'll be worth it at the end and it will translate into a law clerking job.

I've actually quite enjoyed the challenge of it all. It is usually a pretty great intellectual challenge, insofar as that one is forced to think in a fairly new light than i would've before the whole Law School thing. I enjoy the need to use my mind on a daily basis and the company of my co-workers and fellow students.

It is kind of competitive,, it's getting a little big catty now,, but i'm not concerned. Grades only matter for finding your first job,, even though i'm still looking forward to doing better than some of these competitive cats.

Ok,, i don't want to bloviate here,, so update will continue later. = )

Oh Steelers,, how difficult you make it for me. Every Sunday, i wake up so full of hope with my terrible towels in hand, Hines Ward Jersey, Lynn Swann football, Steelers chip plate, Steelers Beanie Cap, and six pack of Coors Light in hand,,, and every week it is such an emotional rollercoaster.

I passed out for 3 hours after that last game because I was so spent. And if i ever see Tommy Maddox back in there,, i may just have to quit you guys for the year,,, ok,, you know that I won't.

But seriously,, it's time to quit playing around guys,, i can't take another Sunday like that. If i didn't win so much money off the Chargers,, my whole Lord's day could've been ruined. Football's all i have on those days,, i'm certainly not studying.

So in closing,, chins up guys,, we need to win next week. Don't worry,, i'll even drink a couple extra beers for you no matter what the hangover is,, because I know that it helps the team when i drink Coors Light at 10:00 AM.

Alright,, i'm glad we had this talk.

PS: Ok,, sorry,, real update coming soon. I'm in Finals now!! People be all kind of tense at school. Much Love
Frank the Tank

Ahhh,, time for the weekly update.

1) Law School,, I think i put in about 49 hours this week. and about 5 1/2 hours at work. It's not that bad still. I'm actually carving out a pretty good clique of friends. Dude,, i seriously feel like the social strata here is like 6th grade. Not that it's bad,, but it is totally different from undergrad. I feel like we've became very good friends rather quickly,,,, that is kinda bitchin.

2) Football is back. I am pretty much obsessed with it. NFL holds an even greater sway over me than going out and partying,,, no,, seriously it doesl. Weird, right??

3) I have been trying to get all caught up on 'Lost' for the season premiere on Wednesday,, that is such a killer show. I sure hope i can balance a strong TIVO schedule with the demands of Law School. 'Lost', 'The OC', 'American Dad', 'Survivor',,, that's it for now,, but who knows if other shows will demand that i watch them! Gotta make room in the schedule.

Hey,, remember when I was here??

Ya,, it was awesome being a gentleman of leisure.

John Mellencamp baby!

Last night,, we went to see John Fogerty(Creedance Clearwater singer) and John Cougar Mellencamp in concert.
It was most certainly one of the sickest concerts i have ever seen. They are both artists that you just don't realize how many freakin great songs that they have done over time,,, it really is quite amazing. They both still have a great stage presence and a connection with the fans. Total high energy and rocking the entire time. The sound was just great as well. No theatrics with the concert,, but totally none needed. Went w/ some good friends,, and it was a great time for sure.

Meanwhile,, on the Law School front. I calculated my timing.... i spend about 40-50 hours a week on Law School related stuff,, more than i expected,, but i guess it's not all that bad. It's bizarre that i actually spend more time in prep for class than i do in class. I am still trying to pick and choose what reading i have to do and what i don't.... i'm sure i'll figure that out soon enough.

3) College Football.... it's been great watching it this weekend. College football also rules,, the passion. Those huge stadiums just get so freakin amped up for games. One of the main regrets i have from attending USD was that there were no big collegiate sports there. I watched a Kentucky v Louisville game today and the passion was incredible,, quite simply an electric atmosphere.

Ok,, Frank. Out.
