Yes, I finally got the Nintendo Wii last night (launched at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 7th in Australia). The console came with a wiimote and nunchuck, a sensor bar, and the Wii Sports game. I bought Wii Play (which is bundled with a wiimote), an extra nunchuck, and "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" game... I was relieved to see that the free console bag that came with the pre-order didn't have the word "Wii" splattered across the front - or else I might need to answer some awkward questions whenever I use the bag... and I also paid for a 2 year extended warranty - you never know when a strap may break during a game of tennis...

Console bag

My impressions so far: when I first unpacked everything, I was a bit daunted with the manuals - but who reads them anyway? Needless to say, setting up the Wii was easy without the help of the manuals. The build quality was awesome - none of those cheap plastic parts that you usually get with television remotes. Everything felt like it was designed by someone, unlike the ugly PS3 that looks more like a George Foreman Grill. And damn that console is small, I knew it was from the photos I saw on the 'net but seeing it with my own eyes... omg... the size of 3 DVD cases in case anyone doesn't know... I'm sorry that you can't judge from my photos, I should have put something next to it for scale.

Sensor bar

The wiimote and nunchuck fit in my hands perfectly, and using the wiimote was very instinctive, the wiimote actually has rumble and a speaker so whenever you hover over some options in the Wii Channels screen, the wiimote vibrates and makes a sound - the same goes with the games of course...

Wiimote

I played Wii Sports first, I actually lost the first 2 games of tennis... I was swinging way too hard... maybe the excitement got to me, but ever since those 2 games I have won every game - I need real people playing with me you see, and that is when my second wiimote will come in handy. I'm planning on having a Wii party sometime next week hopefully... Zelda was a lot of fun, I know why everyone talks about the fishing in that game now...

Wii Play, Wii Sports, Zelda TP

OK, I'm going to play the Wii for a while and then off to bed... I've got a stupid site visit tomorrow... I hope it's cooler than last time (as in the temperature...).

Man... this is pretty darn awesome isn't it? 4 freakin' years... and I'm still here. And in that time something called MySpace and Youtube popped out from behind a tree and ambushed me... not to mention the freakin' war on terrorism... my sympathies go out to the innocent civilians of Iraq.

Ah, alas, I have become more accustomed to the internets now:

hehe... he makes me laugh all the time...

Hmm, where should I start? A lot has happened in 4 years so I guess I'll just skip the last 3 years or so...

So to begin with:

Studying Urban Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, just finished 2nd year and doing a summer course, its the southern hemisphere Down Under so Summer and Winter are switched around in relation to HK... kinda weird cos usually this means I will never ever experience the season of Summer for the rest of my life since I intended to go back home during the Summer holidays (which means it's Winter in HK)... but luckily I had the choice of summer school... yes sounds exciting... but I'm still coming home for my cousin's wedding so: January 12th - 21th 2007, so wargamers take note, I want in so make sure you guys wait for me... so I get to kick your arses again (except for Ant's of course...), and NO ARMOUR!!! Makes it kinda lame - what's the point if you don't feel the pain?

I have a feeling this is going to be a huge post... so much to talk about...

music
Nintendo Wii
Sony sucks
world cup
juventus
PC gaming
Opera
Digg
My trusty old mp3 player

sorry, just a list to remind me what I need to tell you about...

Music: right now, while I'm typing, I'm listening to the album "Oh No" by OK Go.

They're an AWESOME band, and I don't just mean their music... their music videos kick ass!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxeQN2GWAzw

You may recognise this band, they're the same band who made this music video (around 2002...):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVi7awpv6Xo

Gotta love Youtube... my new motto: quantity, not quality.

Other albums I'm into right now is "Stadium Arcadium" by none other than the Red Hot Chili Peppers - the best band in the world I must add... yes, I said WORLD... "Sam's Town" by the Killers - they're a very classy band... and "Wolfmother" by, you guessed it, Wolfmother - an up and coming Aussie band... So please feel free to laugh at my tastes in music now, go ahead, I give you permission...

Nintendo Wii: what can I say? well, erm... nothing yet, haven't got one yet... launches in Australia on Dec. 7th, but I am looking forward to some wicked gaming... pre-ordered it at EB Games, hope I get one... huge demand out there you know...

Sony sucks: the title says it all. I am officially a Sony hater. The rootkits, laptop batteries, the bullying of consumers, memory sticks, UMD discs, PSP and the m*therf*cking PS3... not to mention Blu-Ray... sick...

The PS3 will do pretty badly I reckon, quoting Ken Kutaragi: "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!" and the infamous Genji demo: "the giant crab, based on ancient Japanese history, you attack its weak point for MASSIVE damage..." I heard it's the new "all your base are belong to me", if you haven't seen the remix yet:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g1fr5vk72M

I have a feeling that my rant could be longer, but I'll spare the Sony fanboys out there *cough* Malcolm *cough*??br />

World Cup: oh well, the Aussies lost to the eventual champions, the referreeing was shit though, and Zizou... man I feel sorry for him, that headbutt was a bad way to end his career - he'd tell his grand children how he played for Juve and moved to Real for a world record fee because he scored 2 goals to win the World Cup in 1998, won the CL countless times... and then got kicked out of the 1st round of the WC in 2002, and lost the 2006 Final because he went bananas...

Juventus: *sigh* my beloved Juve... down in Serie B... all because of the stupid management... who needs to bribe referrees when you have the likes of Buffon, Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Nedved, Camoranesi, Vieira, Emerson, Del Piero, Trezeguet, and Ibrahimovic? I must point out that 8 of these players were in the 2006 World Cup Final between Italy and France. But alas, Thuram and Zambrotta went to Barca, Cannavaro and Emerson went to Real, and Vieira and Ibra went to Inter... now we are left with half a team... and how the bloody hell did Milan get away? Just because their rich owner is also the former PM of Italy... the f*cker... His name is Silvio Berlusconi, and I believe he fainted at some conference recently... I believe in karma you know...

PC gaming: haven? bought many lately, favourites include: BF2, GTA:SA, Rome:TW, and Civ IV??I can? wait for SPORE to come out though??br />

Opera: as in the internet browser, I am a huge fan of Opera. Fx is alright and IE has improved somewhat?在ut Opera just delivers the complete package, no need for constant updates like IE or extensions like Fx. And there are lots of other reasons??fastest browser on Earth, etc. but I? be here all night if I told you more??maybe later in some other post?? And Fx fans out there, you might be pissed at me for abbreviating it as Fx but apparently Firefox is abbreviated as ?x?? not ?F??as most users thought *cough* Daniel *cough*??br />

Digg: that is ??Digg.com. Very innovative website, love the layout, I get some of my news there and all the ?nternet gossip??too??I? brotherfranciz??drop by and say hello some time??br />

My trusty old mp3 player: yep, through all these 4 long years, my mp3 player is still with me??nope, it? NOT an iPod??it? a 4GB Creative Nomad Muvo2, and not a single scratch on it and the battery is STILL going strong, I? estimating it still lasts around 10-14 hours (haven? listened to it continuously so I can? be sure??, I can? even remember when I bought the thing, maybe Yr. 12??so 4 years old??not too shabby when compared to an iPod??I reckon it? got another 2-4 years in it??br />

Hmm, looks like all my bases have been covered, that took a while??crap??it? 3:30a.m., well, I did start at 2:30 since I couldn? sleep and had nothing to do??and somehow decided to visit Xanga??so please excuse any grammatical errors, guess I?l sign out now??my eyelids are drooping as I'm typing... Oh and someone? gotta teach me how to upload pics and vids??I remember last time I was on Xanga, the pics were f*cked up?? And tell me if the Youtube video links work, just copy and paste the links into your address bar I? guessing, not sure how Xanga handles links...

gay ass xanga still hasn't deleted my frigging page after 3 yrs...

here, this is for u Brother Daniel:

"Tonight a great divide has sundered our household, one that I feel shall ne'er be traversed. We have entered into a state of conflict, one which neither truce nor surrender shall cease. I fear that peace shall only be salvaged with the demise of one of the warring parties: Mine own, or that of Prudence the cook!

In an earlier missive, I told of the arrival of Prudence, and of the manner in which she, under the banner of nutritional sanctity, swept all things tasty and sweet from the kitchen pantries. This at first caused me considerable anxiety and distress, but I am an ingenious fellow, and swiftly concocted a solution. Thenceforth, at my daily visit to the sweets shop, I would purchase an additional quantity of treats to enjoy at my leisure. I would then stow them away in my private pantry: A velvet-lined Mauchline snuff box which I kept hidden away under my bed! It was a cracking good plan, in that it both concealed the delicacies from Prudence's prying eyes and afforded me the opportunity to use the lovely Mauchline box (which until then had only proved suitable for marble)."

...and forget about those stupid eprop shits.
