It's true! I've seen it!

"War is God's way of teaching Americans geography." - Ambrose Bierce

Also, Jimmy Eat World is amazing. Pure catharsis.

Really? I'm still terribly happy (of course, we're ending only day two) - we have some wonderful reading this term, especially in Lordship. My project for the next eight weeks is to see how long I can keep stress at bay.

lol. Love the quote.
Don't know what catharsis means though. I'll have to go look it up...on Whittaker's words...

I find the sex, drugs, occasional foul language and the bleak outlook in the Jimmy Eat World lyrics disturbing to say the least.

The trouble with life is all the sex, drugs, and foul language. Perhaps we should all stop living.

The problem is not that the temptation to sin exists, but how we deal with that temptation. Her point was that they don't see anything wrong with the way they're living, and they have no hope; when they're down, they're down. There's no redemption, which is completely contrary to what we have as Christians. That's not to say that all their songs portray a wicked worldview, but, like so much of the music that's out there, the general gist of what they say is that sin is OK and that if things go wrong there's no salvation except the happy feeling when something goes right again.

Yes, Natasha, that is what I was saying. And in response to your comment Fraser, I would say that as Christians, we are the ones who are living! It is those who have not been redeemed who are dead. Christ came that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). We have been bought with a price, the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and are therefore to glorify God in our bodies and in our spirits which belong to Him (1 Corinthians 6:20). We are not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2). We are to abhor what is evil and cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9). What we listen to, what we watch, what we read, what we say; these are the things that tell the world around us to whom we have given our hearts. May our lives be above reproach proclaiming to the world and fellow believers the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:11).
