  • Teaching Kindergarten is awesome.

That is my update. I don't really have time to update right now, but I am updating for the sake of updating. Hahaha.

I guess I will write one story.

We were in class and I was teaching the children about the Food Pyramid (it is completely different from the old pyramid we were used to seeing as kids) and we came to the Meat Group. I had a worksheet for them to color and the normal meats were there like Turkey, Chicken, Fish, and Steak. However, there was a picture of peanuts and eggs. So I asked the class if they knew why those two foods were present in the Meat Group and one boy's hand shot up. I called on him and he said, "Because they're high in protein!" and I was utterly shocked that he knew the correct answer (my Kindergahtners are wicked smaht <~ my Boston accent). Anyhow...I hand out the worksheet for them to color and I also ask them to label the pictures so that they could practice sounding out words and writing. The first boy to finish hands his sheet to me and I ask if he had labeled his pictures as well. He nods his head and walks over to the legos to play with them. I am reading his words and under peanuts he wrote, "P-e-n-u-s." HAHAHAHAHA. I almost burst out laughing and called him over. I point to the word and sound out the word for him, emphasizing the "t" in the word. He hears it and squeezes a "t" in there and then I tell him, "Good job =). You can go play."

At least three other students wrote it the same way because that's how it sounds.

    Can't blame 'em though...I guess a "penus" is technically a meat...LOL -_-'

  • New Life?

Moved to Boston a week and a half ago and it has been fine settling in and just relaxing.

Now that I am back in Boston, I am getting back into the groove of Boston sports. I am still excited that the Red Sox are spanking up on the competition. I am VERY VERY excited for the Celtics season especially because Rondo is playing well and improving, Paul Pierce is still himself, and RAY ALLEN is now a Celtic and he is one of my favorite players. The Celtics cannot do any worse than they did last year. It's all uphill from here. And also the Patriots...I don't even need to explain why I am excited about the Patriots season. Living in the DC area, watching the Redskins play every week has been painful...hahaha (although I think the Redskins will make the playoffs this coming year...just wait and see).

This is my schedule for the rest of the summer:

July 16: ARISE Counselor training starts.
    July 29-August 2: ARISE Retreat
    August 3-12: SEATTLE!!! YEAHHH!!!
August 21: Teachers meetings begin at my school

Sam and I sing harmony for one another.

Oh and I recorded "So Sick" over the instrumental and it came out pretty well, but I guess I will post that some other time. Well, I guess I could email it to you. If you want the song I recorded, just email me at jameskim3@gmail.com.

    Strangers are welcome too haha
