Dog Toys

I'm sitting here soaking my feet in the new foot spa my Tramp surprised me with at Christmas!

At the same time I'm watching the dogs play Snatch-the-Toy.  It can be pretty funny.  Ngaire is a 60 lb German Shepherd Dog and Belle is a 4 lb Chihuahua and their squeaky stuffed toys are sized accordingly... such as this 3 inch "Tiny Teddy" which Belle has one of.

Ngaire is currently pacing around looking ridiculous with Belle's little tiny stuffed squirrel in her mouth

while Belle has been dragging around a big fuzzy bone shaped thing.  A bit earlier she was wrestling with a stuffed chipmunk as big as she is.    (sometimes these things look way too real and I have to look twice, especially the life sized grey squirrel!)

All Belle's natural instincts show up when she's got a fuzzy thing to be responsible for.  After a good deal of serious pacing up and down and back and forth with the toy in her mouth, she finds a place on the sofa or on our bed to bury her toy.  She digs away and goes through all the motions of pushing dirt over the toy with her nose and patting it down.  This can go on for quite a while until she's satisfied.  She loves to bury things in the folds of my mother's skirts.    We can take the toy away without a peep from her but don't let Ngaire get to close!  Belle sounds like a little wildcat snarling and snapping to protect her precious fuzzy thing.  Ngaire doesn't dare challenge her!

Belle received a yellow "Catateenies" toy for Christmas and spent most of the day alternately ripping the fluff off of it or guarding it as if her life depended on it.

Here she is with one of her faves, an ostrich, pacing the bed for a burying spot.

Ngaire plays tunes with her squeaky things.  She has a hedgehog that has a squeaker, a growler and some bits in it that rattle.  Sometimes it's like she's working on her opus.

She does NOT understand why I don't want to play with her nasty wet chipmunk.

Oh for heaven's sake....  I've dried off my feet and applied my new Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme and Ngaire's come to lick it all off for me!  Yikes!  Go away dog!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
