I've kind of been on a camera-buying spree as of late. One of the cameras that is on my "purchased" list is the
Fuji Instax Mini 55. With the downfall of Polaroid instant film and my lack of ability to find film for a decent price for my OneStep, I had been looking around for alternatives.
Katie had posted that she recently acquired a Fuji Instax camera that took polaroid-like photos the size of credit cards. Polaroid-like photos the size of credit cards? How awesome is that? I was instantly intrigued.
After much research and gnoming around the internet, I was able to find a decent deal on a Fuji Instax Mini 55 and 10 packs of film from eBay. There are several versions of the Instax mini series, and the 55 seemed like the one that fit me the best.
In addition to the Mini series, there are also the Fuji Instax 100, 200, and 500 if you are interested in having a larger sized instant print. They are around the same size as Polaroids, but are rectangular instead of square. I had asked
Petitetokyo to see if she can find me any 200's because I couldn't find any on eBay or Amazon, to which she had so graciously agreed (thanks yo!). Anyways, the search was called off because they do carry them at lomography.com for a semi-decent price. I think I'll be picking one up in the near future =)
The only problem with these cameras is that Fuji never released the cameras or the film in the US. So... even though they're still being manufactured, the only place that has a decently priced and consistent stock of the cameras and film is ebay.
Here are the first two shots from the Instax 55
1. erm... yeah... looks kinda... uh...
I look skinnier here than I really am for some reason. Maybe gravity is pulling all my face fat downwards
2. We recently painted one of the walls in my family room yellow.
Don't ask me why.
