| Wow, so I haven't updated in a really long time, and now it's only as an outlet to bitch and complain. For those of you who don't know, I'm working as a telemarketer. I thought it wasn't so bad at first, my co-workers are generally nice, some of the managers are great, and the names you get...heheh "Useful Boathouse" is my favourite so far. But yesterday I had probably my worst experience at work ever. I had this guy on the phone who was just so foul and graphic, that it made me want to vomit. At the time, I took it well, staying professional...but I could only take it so far (it was my understanding that we could never hangup on a customer). At the end of our conversation, the guy told me he did that to all telemarketers, and that I took it really well. After the veiled sex talk, he told me, and I quote "congrats girl, you stayed really professional on the phone, and btw you do sound really cute, so what I said before still applies." WTF! Obviously, I was more than a little upset. But then the very next call I had this woman FREAK out on me. Hardcore freakout. It was terrible. So, I ran to the bathroom (without signing out BIG FAUX PAS!). I dried my tears, and went back to my seat and put my sunglasses on (so cliche, but they do more than just help to block out the sun). The supervisor comes up to me and yells at me for leaving my seat. I tell her to go away, as it's pretty obvious that I'm upset. She sends another supervisor to me, who I explain the situation to. She tells me to take a breather outside. I walk around the block a couple times, return...and by this time I'm still really upset, and believe me it takes a lot to make me cry...I tell them I can't continue with the day and that i'll make up the hours next week. They tell me that this is unacceptable, and maybe I should look for another job if I can't take nasty calls. I explain that I have received nasty/graphic/totally disgusting calls before, and handled them fine, even with a sense of humour, but for whatever reason (probably because I had them back to freaking back) I just couldn't continue for the day. I mean, for freak sakes...you can't make sales if you're crying on the phone!!! Then they make some stupid insinuation that if I could take graphic calls before, why was THIS time any different? I mean like I'm really going to go out and party right after! LKJWSELKJLKEJ GERR! so now I have to meet with the call manager on Monday. Although the calls were really horrible, what makes me more upset was the way it was handled, withh such a callous disregard for the feelings of their employees. I mean, supervisors are supposed to make the work environment tolerable (at the very least) for those working for them. And they wonder why they have trouble keeping staff!

| I am officially terrified. I am henceforth a STUDENT TEACHER. This
means real lesson plans, resolving behavioural issues, actual
responsibilities...the works. Tomorrow at 7 am it begins.

| That last exam I wrote has permanently affected my wrist. I'm actually
in physical pain. OUCH. The good news is, I actually did well on an
essay for this one proff who gives crappy marks no matter what I hand
in. But this essay I really tried to write like him...it's a very
strange sort of style. Far more concise in ways, but not nice. Anyway,
I wrote it...a very historiographic piece, and I actually got a decent
mark...21/25...what is that? A mid-high eighty at least! It just makes
me feel so much better, as previous to it, my highest mark in his
course was a 76% (a good 10 percent below what I normally get). Anyway,
I'm done blothering! :) HUGS!
