So I didn't do ANY yard work today. And it definitely didn't rain. I was just extremely lazy. Extremely. I did go see my parents tonight, and talked to my mom for a couple of hours. Tonight I realized again how lucky I am. My mother is WONDERUL. Absolutely. I can tell her pretty much anything. She's not exactly friend status because I definitely don't tell her when I've been bad unless I get caught or it's been 10 years. Or I'm feeling guilty...then I may spill it all out. But she's the best mother I know. I don't know how to explain our relationship. She doesn't try to be my age and "hang out"...she doesn't try too hard to be my friend. I guess she's just good at being a mother. Not that she's perfect, but I seriously don't think I'll be as great a mother as she is. I don't have the patience she has or the inherent kindness. I have a lot of things to change before I become a person that I would want anyone else watching for an example to follow. Yeah, that's a scary thought. Glad I see no children in the near future.

So... Friday night at work ended up being even worse than Thursday night. I had another bleeder...just not the same patient, and ended up staying late to finish everything. Sunday night was good though. I finished everything a little early, and was home on time. I even woke up about 2 pm, and went to see my grandma for a few hours this afternoon. Then, I cut 1/4 of my yard with the lawnmower I'd commandeered from my parents' house. Tomorrow is going to be my designated yard/house work day...unless it rains.

Only ONE MONTH until the road trip!!!! 3 WHOLE WEEKS OFF WORK! AND I get PAID to "road trip". I am so psyched.

Oh, we had an interesting patient last night. She came up to our floor and we almost immediately sent her to ICU. She'd been on the 6th floor for a little while, and they had callled numerous MET codes (the code we call before we actually "code" the patient). So they sent her up to us and put her on a heart monitor. Shortened version the lady wasn't looking good. She had to be on the most efficient oxygen mask because her blood oxygen levels kept dropping, and then she started having a not-so-great heart rhythm. So anyway, to ICU she went and guess what we found out: They think that an impaction is what caused it all. Yeah, some serious constipation put the lady in ICU. Morals of the story: stay off morphine PCP pumps and get some fiber. And you wonder why old people get so crazy about staying regular.

I'm sitting here vegetating for about 15 more minutes. Then, I'll have to get up and get ready for work. Last night was a little crazy. Thankfully only one of my patient's was having problems so once it was taken care of I was able to catch up on things. The weirdest part of last night's experience was the patient herself. She was bleeding from a procedure she'd had done before coming to our floor, and no lie, bled from 7pm when I came on until about 1am. She wasn't gushing blood, but steady trickles from 2 places will still soak sheets, gowns and towels. So anyway, we're applying pressure yada yada yada, and the lady is driving me nuts because she's *harassing* me for another tray of food, a soda, a different pain medication. Seriously, if you were steadily bleeding and soaking clothes and towels would you be worried about food trays and sodas. I understand she was hungry, but she got a tray when I came on. So it wasn't like she hadn't had anything. THEN, when I was finally able to get some one to run downstairs and open the kitchen she DIDN'T even eat the food. I thought she was strange. And I'll probably have her again tonight if she's still there. But hopefully no bleeding tonight.

I am being completely lazy this afternoon, and feeling kind of bad about it. It's not like I don't have plenty of things I should be doing. AND I was completely productive this morning. My productivity just went to pits about 1pm. I even ate McDonald's today, and I haven't eaten there in a llloonnnggg time. You know what I discovered though...I don't really like their French Fries anymore. Crazy. I used to be addicted.

This one is for George since I think he's the only person who reads my weblog now. Not that I've been writing anything lately. Sorry. So anyway, here's to you, George.

Work:
I'm working night shift now at the hospital, and I LOVE it so much more than working days. I have been more of a loner now since there is usually NO ONE to talk to at 3 am. I work 12 hour shifts so I only work 3 days each week. This week I picked up an extra day. I wouldn't have guessed that only one extra day could make you so tired...but I am tired. And I still have 2 more days to work.

House:
I am officially a home owner now! Yayzer! It's still a little scary to have that much responsibility. Right now the new house is a mess. It's full of unpacked boxes, and random things scattered EVERYWHERE. AND I'm supposed to be moving even more stuff from the old house right now. It feels like the moving will never end. Sad part: I haven't even really packed or moved stuff. My family did. How lame am I? Don't answer.

Life In General:
I'm a slacker. Completely. It's slightly depressing. I do have a road trip coming up though. Charissa, Esther, Steph & Me are going to tour the east coast for ~3 weeks. I'm excited about it. It's been in the works for 2 years.
