Now that's over, time for the "Curious" part of this post. I found out what the "^" sign means (you know the one they use to make them smilies, ^_^), yeah, the "caret" it's called. I learnt about it when I got a scientific calculator back in I duno when, that it stands as the symbol for an exponential, or "power of". Then this year I learnt that it can also be used as a symbol representing an estimator. So I got a random thought. What does "~" mean? You know, "woohoo~!"? As usual, wikipedia fails me not. It's a "tilde". What does it mean? Or what is it used for? Whoa.. - In languages, the tilde is a diacritical mark (~) placed over a letter to indicate a change in pronunciation, such as nasalization. - In dictionaries, both bilingual and monolingual, the tilde is often referred to as a swung dash. It is often used to replace the headword of an entry when it occurs within the entry, in order to save space.
