I'm back.

For those of you who subscribed to my Xanga, thanks.  I'm really sorry that I haven't updated this in a while, but I'll get to it.  Things have changed for me BIG TIME.  Update time later, this is more of a "HELLO I'M STILL HERE" entry.

Crossovers...the next big thing to hit videogames?

With the recent success of Kingdom Hearts II in the USA, one must wonder if crossover games are the next big thing for videogames.  When I first played Kingdom Hearts, I was skeptical at first.  Whoever heard of the dramatic Final Fantasy Characters mixing it up with the lovable Disney characters?  When I played it, I loved it, and didn't want it to end.  It's been a long four years between games, and Kingdom Hearts II doesn't disappoint.

On the horizon, Namco X Capcom is coming out, mixing up characters from many of Capcom and Namco's franchises.  Yes, I saw a battle in which Ryu, Ken, and Jin Kazama were taking down a bunch of soldiers on a boat.  If that's the case, I wonder what we're gonna see next?  Hello Kitty vs. Bugs Bunny?  Whoa, that would be pretty sweet.  Sanrio vs. Warner Brothers!

of Racers and Racing....Part 1

There's just something about a fast car that gets people's blood flowing. Be it a blown VTEC, a boosted 2JZ-GTE, or a CT9A Lancer, all these cars achieve the desired effect of increasing heart rate. Different leagues and races all achieve the same effect, exciting the masses.

Anyway, I've been doing some research and I'm really interested in Super GT racing. Super GT racing is born from the JGTC(All-Japan Grand Touring Championship), which is a series of races held on various circuits in Japan, although they have expanded to Malaysia and other places. There are two classes in Super GT, the GT500 class(cars with 500 horsepower), and the GT300 Class(cars with 300 horses). The things that struck me as odd are the fact that the cars are heavily tampered to restrict engine output, and winners from previous races are actually given weight penalties to keep the races even. And to make things complicated, cars from both classes are on the track at the same time. So you can imagine what happens when the cars from both classes start sharing track space during the race. It gets pretty chaotic when the GT500 cars try to pass the GT300 classes.

What also struck me was the sheer technicality of the courses in Super GT. Some of the notable courses are Suzuka Circuit(Mie Prefecture), Motegi Twin Ring, Autopolis, and Fuji Speedway. These courses feature plenty of turns, straights, inclines, declines, and other traps to challenge the drivers. Drivers famous from other leagues like F1, Rally, Le Mans, and Drifting competitions are also featured here. Drivers like Nobuteru Taniguchi, Manabu "Max" Orido, Juichi Wakisaka, Akira Iida, Dominic Schwager, and even the drift king Keiichi Tsuchiya are/were famous Super Gt Drivers.

You might even say that Super GT is Japan's answer to nascar, with more turns and less horsepower. I wonder what would happen when a NASCAR vehicle(800 Horsepower ZOMG) would run at Twin Ring Motegi Speedway, or Fuji Speedway.

So far...so good.

Right now i'm in the computer lab at SDSU's comp center, right near the dome.  I got through my japanese and RWS classes without too much trouble, although it seems that I've managed to become the center of attention in both classes.  During our japanese class' "IceBreaker" event, we had to introduce ourselves to a bunch of people, so I unwittingly introduced myself to a bunch of people, including a couple of ladies from my 111 class.  After the icebreaker event, Sensei asked us who we talked to, so no matter who she went to, they would always point to "Francis-san".  Myspace, anyone?

RWS 305 is a fun class.  My first assignment had me begging my professor to let me back into her class after missing three weeks of class and missing one major essay (there's 4 in total).  Yeah, hopeless.  So I spun one of my tallest tales, indicating that I was abducted by aliens and forced to produce water for them by urinating into a jar that would magically transmute water from urine.  Later on I crashlanded onto planet Dagobah and was trained in the ways of the force from Master Luke Skywalker and the arts of the ninja from master Ryu Hayabusa.  Yea, I'm probably not going to get back into the class, but it was a fun romp.

That reminds me, I need to go to the ARC for some workout schedules.  I have a huge break inbetween classes(thankfully my SOC 250) class is MUCH earlier, so I can probably make good on my new year's resolution to lose weight.
*the distinct rumbling of a hungry college student echoes through the hall*

Oookay, maybe not right now.  First, lemme get some panda express...
