The Big Game

USC is in control of it's national title game destiny. What a crazy turn of events to put the ball in the Trojan's hands to reach the BCS title game. Is Texas kicking themselves or what?

Notre Dame v. USC this week. That's big. With USC playing for the BCS title game bid, it gets bigger. I think the Trojans are going to absolutely roll Charlie and Company. I picked Ohio State-USC at the beginning of the season. (I didn't think Oregon State would be a factor, but that is why they play them). The pick looks like it might materialize.

Good thing Charlie can't grow out the grass this year. Fight on!

I hate to sound biased against the Trojans (even though I am), but objectively speaking I remain unimpressed by the 2006 Trojans. BCS rankings be darned, they've done nothing to show me they are the #3 team in the nation. I was hoping Cal would win to prove me right, but that failed miserably. I'd rather see an Ohio State/Michigan rematch in the BCS title game. Sorry John.

I've got to agree with Capell. Michigan's 3 point loss to a very strong #1 OSU vs. SC's 2 point loss to a very weak unranked OSU leaves no question that Michigan is the #2 team in the nation even if SC beats ND and the Bruins. I don't even understand why they are even in the conversation. The Trojans are played. I can't wait for Notre Dame AND UCLA to beat them. GO BRUINS!!!

I agree with everybody that SC has been a disappointment this year, but in this game at this time, gotta go SoCal.

Interesting takes on the BCS. It is a flawed system, but better than what we had, but certainly no playoff. All the one loss teams have legitimate arguments, except Notre Dame. The problem for Michigan is that they had their shot at the crown. They came up short. And can a national champion not be a conference champion? I don't buy it. Plus, from a fan's perspective, the only good sequels have been Godfather 2 and Rocky 3. No one outside of Michigan wants to see a rematch. Ohio State earned the right to not play them again.

As for USC, it is very hard to put together 12 good games. Michigan struggled with Ball State. Notre Dame should have 3 losses. Losing on the road in a tough place like Corvalis isn't crazy. The strength of schedule cancels out a road loss, even to a non-25 team. USC might end up beating the Big 12 and SEC conference champs and playing 10 bowl teams this year.

Talent wise, UCLA is going to struggle for years against USC. To be the best you must recruit the best. Rival games are unpredictable, but Pete has yet to lose to UCLA. I don't see it happening this year with the BCS bid at stake.

I am pumped for Saturday. It should be an EPIC day. Fight on!

I can't believe people are doubting USC's credentials.  USC blew out Arkansas.  They blew out Nebraska.  They blew out California.   And they blew out Notre Dame.  All four of those teams (and from four different conferences) would be top 10 teams if they hadn't lost to USC.  Who else, other than Ohio State, has put together a resume that even remotely compares to that?
