What an exciting night!!
Ok, so, I'm on my way home from work like normal. And it's been rainy all day, so I went to the Red Box to rent a movie. They didn't have the one I was looking for (P.S. I Love You). So I'm headed back down May towards my house, when on the radio that western OK county was under a tornado warning. I live in western OK county. And then the sirens went off. I live on the second story, so I went to pull into Best Buy, and then opt to go to Target because they have better things to look at. So, I continue down May to Target. And the rain gets so bad that you can't see, so NO ONE is moving! I look up to see a ginormous cloud above my head, and yes, it's swirling. Ok, stay calm! Finally, I get a chance to weave around the stopped traffic and pull into Target. I take the first parking spot I see. I go to open my door, and the wind was so strong, I barely squeezed out! It was coming down so hard and fast, not to mention the parking lot was flooded. So I'm running in, as are about 2 or 3 other people. As I was running in, my pants fell below my butt! I just kept going. By the time I got into the store, I was completely soaked! I was greeted by the store manager who was new to Oklahoma. And me and this other guy that ran in explained the difference between a 'watch' and a 'warning'. And then we pointed out the massive cloud of circulation right above our head.
I was able to stay calm, until I couldn't get a phone call out, because the lines were jammed. When I finally got ahold of Chris, he was driving home. He stopped at Target and waited out the tornado with me.
It never dropped, and I'm so thankful! The wind did gust to 120 miles and hour... and I did have to clean up the water than blew in from my chimney, but everything is OK.
