  • Will it NEVER end???!!!???

OMG!  I don't think I will ever see the end of the dreaded cardboard boxes...  Everytime I think I'm close to the end, we bring in more from the storage unit, or shed... I think they are being like my sister's bunnies.. Multiplying when I'm not looking.....   On Sunday, from the pulpit, David invited everyone to the parsonage.  I had to quip in, "if you can get past a few boxes!".   But, I do want to host an open house once we're fully in...  I did that when we moved to Berwick.  I had a Christmas open house, and people who handn't been to the church in a long time came, and started coming back to church.  I'm hoping that happens here, too.  Once the people meet you in your home environment, they feel more comfortable and will most likely come back to church.  The last pastor here never visited anyone.  At their home or in the hospital, unless it was essential, like death immenent.  David is a visiting preacher.  He loves to go visit with people and sit and drink coffee or lemonade with the parishoners.  I've made several visits with him in Berwick.  I think a couple or family, as we sometimes took the kids to visit also, makes a big impact on people.

Anyhow, once I've unpacked all the computer stuff and gotten it set up, I'll start taking some pictures of the house, in all its disarray and get them posted.  It's coming together, but once I get a room set up just like I like it, suddenly there are more boxes to unpack and I have to end up changing some things.  We got to the point that if we didn't have room, or just didn't want it anymore, we were throwing it away, cause I DO NOT want to do another yard sale...  Turns out the church is hosting a yard sale on July 19th.  So, we will start taking the stuff there.  I know we've got enough to supply the entire city of Baton Rouge with junk..  er, I mean STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On July 18th, I'm going back to Lafayette.  My son and daughter in law are having a 3-D sonogram of Gabriel, my unborn grandson....   They've invited me to come in the room with them and watch... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited..  I can't wait to see his little face!

Ok, back to the at hand.  I must get off of here and go pay another months rent on the storage unit, cause there's NO way I'll get everything out of there today..  Blessings to each and every one of you, my beautiful Xanga friends!

  • Spotting a stroke

Hi all!  I received this in an email and wanted to not only forward it, but to get it out there for as many people as possible to see...  It bears remembering when our loved ones are involved...

Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, theTongue.

This is good info to remember and use.

    I will continue to forward
this every time it comes around!

    STROKE:
Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.

If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously..

    Please read:

    STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at
6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhap s Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless,
    hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting
the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

    RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke

    .

Now doctors s ay a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

    S *
    Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with
ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the
    symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other
, that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to
10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved

  • Attack of the killer Box!

OMG, when I tell you I'm exhausted and feel as though I'm being buried alive by cardboard boxes, I'm not joking.  It took 3, yes THREE 26 foot uhaul trucks to get our stuff here, not to mention the carloads and several trips back to Lafayette....  I've NEVER seen so much stuff in my life.... I don't have a clue where it was all hiding, but it's here  now, and I intend to purge a ton and a half.  Hopefully, we all will.... It has been non-stop since we began packing, and although we aren't on a deadline, I still need to get stuff put away.  I haven't found my dress clothes, or shoes.  I have shorts, tank tops, a couple of pairs of capri's and a few t-shirts and flip flops.... Doesn't make for a good first impression on a congregation.  On top of that, we had been here only 2 days and my husband calls me and said he had a job for me, but I had to start Thursday. Yesterday.  Hadn't  even really unpacked anything except food, and now I've got a job on top of this unpacking.  I could have KILLED him, but then, I'd have to repack the food, and move out cause they'd get a new preacher who would be moving in here....   Ok, so I wouldn't kill him, but you get my point.  I'm just sooo tired I can't hardly stand it.  I feel like crap, and I know it's cause I'm so tired...  Ok, done belly-aching, for now!  Just wanted to pop in and say Hi while I was on a much needed break.  (Hubby and son went to find pepboys).....

Keep us in your prayers that we get this done without hurting each other!!!

  • The time is upon us!

Well, my friends, the moving time is upon us.  Yesterday we took another truckload, and I mean a 24 foot uhaul truck, to Baton Rouge.  And tomorrow, we will be taking hopefully the last 24 foot truck over.  I NEVER realized we had that much junk here....  I told mom we definately both need to purge as we unpack.  To give you an idea, that's about the size of a SEMI truck load and a HALF.....    I just can't believe.

On Thursday evening, my husband got a call from the preacher from another church here in town.  It's actually the church we use to attend before Dave became a preacher.  Anyway, my dear, dear friend lost her battle with cancer...  I had been trying to find out when visitation and services were, but there has been nothing in the paper or on any of the funeral homes websites here in town.  And we had our phone disconnected friday,  and my cell phone is tempermental at best, so I wasn't able to find out anything until this morning when I viewed the newspaper online and finally found her obit.  The service is today, and it's only a memorial service.  The thing is, after church today, they are having a farewell dinner for us.... WHAT TO DO??????????????????????     And after the dinner, we've got to buckle down and get everything contained to the garage for easy loading tomorrow.    I'm gonna be exhausted before I get started....

I won't be here for a few days.  We have to unplug today, and I'm not sure when we'll be able to plug up again... Blessings to y'all!!!

  • YARD SALE IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Jesus!  The yard sale is over.  I'm exhausted, mom is exhausted, my son is exhausted, and my puppy is exhausted... (she's never barked and growled so much in her young life)...  We did good.  Most of the big items sold, thankfully, and alot of the little ones, too... Unfortunately, there's still a bunch of stuff... So, maybe we'll box it up and do this all over again in Baton Rouge...    Now, I've got one week to finish up packing, trashing and cleaning before we load up for THE big day.... I promise I'll be around more once we're moved.  I've been reading my daily subscriptions, so I do know what's going on with my online buddies..... My prayers are with all of you!  Wuv!!
