| Today I started reading through my previous entries from last year around this time. The one year anniversary of Brent's injury is coming, so I suppose I was just feeling reflective.
So much has changed since then, and even since I updated last.
The biggest thing is that Brent is getting out of the army, in like, a month. After everything with his injuries, it was determined that he cannot do his job as an infantryman. He cannot wear body army, or march, or run, at all. Since he only had two years left, they chose to MedBoard him and get him out, rather than have him reclass in another job. Nothing is for certain yet, but most likely we will be moving back to Topeka in the next month or so.
Secondly, because of his injury, we received an insurance payment, which everyone in the army is eligible for if they're injured in combat. Because of this, we were able to pay off every penny of our debt, and we will be able to buy a house once we move back to Topeka. I cannot express how grateful we are for that money. It's just incredible the way everything has worked out.
This Sunday is the one year anniversary.
God is good.
Another thing that has changed is that Brent has decided he wants to go to school. He really wants to graduate from the University of Kansas. That means he'll probably be driving the 30 minutes there, since we definitely do not want to live in Lawrence. Unless something changes, I don't think I want to go to KU. I really enjoyed my last year at Washburn, but we'll see. Thing is, both of us will be going to school full time, and wroking fulltime, somehow. This doesn't leave us a lot of time for family stuff, but we'll just have to get through it. Then again, who knows what's gonna happen, we may have to take turns going to school. I'm just glad we have the opportunity to do so. Brent's school will be covered by the GI bill, and mine will be by the people from our church. Both of those are huge, incredible blessing. Having paid our share in student loans, I'm eternally grateful that we have these blessings.
Hmmm what else.
Colter is very sweet. He still has issues where he reverts back to his terrible twodom, but overall he is very well behaved. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that since Brent is getting out, he is in a medical holding unit right now. He works for literally 45 minutes a day, and then comes home. So Brent and Colter have been getting a lot of quality time, and the general atmosphere of the house is just more relaxed. I'm so glad our hard time in the army is done. I guess it should be said that the hard times were really hard (Brent working 13 hour days and coming home exhausted just to fall into bed) and now the easy times are really easy.
We are going to try to put Colter into preschool this next semester, which is hopefully when we'll all be starting school. We're still not sure how everything is going to work out, but I know it will do just that, work out, because everything in our lives has always been exactly how the Lord deems them so, and His will is perfect.
Anyways, I need to get off her and call a friend, then I'm going to go swim some laps!
hopefully I'll be on here more, and I'll keep you guys updated!
