BAILOUT!

Wow... we are living through the economic equivalent of 9/11 -- and much like the response to 9/11, the current administration is calling for huge increases in government power to give us "economic security" sort of like the power grab to protect our "physical security" after 9/11. And what bewilders me is why the bailout is aimed toward the corporations. Why don't they just bailout American citizens? Why do the corporations get such massive welfare as a result of financial mismanagement, but in the end, whether it be through being too "poor" to pay the bills and living with "ruined" credit -- or needing to pay the price through increased taxes, the little guy pays the price. I'd like somebody with some background in economics explain why we don't bail the PEOPLE out?

What we need is a "Jubilee Year" like they had in the Old Testament where ALL FINANCIAL DEBTS WERE FORGIVEN! Isn't that something?

Happy Birthday to our Blessed Mother!! We are taught by Scripture that "by their fruit, you shall know them," well, who had the most blessed fruit of all? Mary of course -- Mary's fruit was non other than our Lord Jesus Christ. If we shall know them by their fruit, how much it speaks of our Holy Mother that her fruit was God incarnate. We too can strive to bring this fruit to others, although in a spritual sense.

Speaker Pelosi's attempt to explain so-called "theology" in support of her pro-abortion stand has put the Catholic view on abortion out there in the open (i.e. the Drudge Report) and not only is it in the open, but it is being articulated like I've not seen before (and I know that this particular issue, i.e. these statements by Augustine; have been used by many to support this view, but now we're getting a deeper explanation of where Augustine was coming from) .

Failed Boycott

OK...I failed in my boycott attempt. I did watch the lighting of the olympic flame and if anyone else out there saw it, it was quite impressive---but when I think of this and a country that squashes human rights and does not allow the Catholics to truly practice their religion (the Catholic Church of China is actually its own church - from what I understand), it seemed a rediculously empty venture... especially as people are treated as a commodity there and in a Communist stystem man is made for work, so all of Chinese's efforts to put on this was about fulfillin their duties to their state.

Boycott Olympics?

I am totally shocked that the US is not boycotting the Olympics - then again, since China basically owns us, and we depend on China's slave labor for our keeping prices down on our goods, I suppose we can't afford to rub them the wrong way. We have a trade embargo on Cuba (a communist country) but we trade freely with China (a communist country)... rife with hypocrisy. I'm going to do my best NOT to watch the Olympics at all.

Pope taking a position on climate change!?

I will wait, of course, to hear his actual statements...as this is a very paraphrased statement, and I just don't trust reports to get things about the Pope right...... but as to this issue in general - we can't say for sure MAN is causing any climate change (even Mars is warming up), even Cardinal Pell (of AUSTRALIA) has come out strongly against this notion... however, WE MUST treat our environment better than we do as stewards of God's creation. To me, the Pope can teach that all day long, but to even begin to buy into Climate Change issue gives all sorts of ammo to people that want GLOBAL ONE CHILD POLICIES because having children has been supposedly linked to climate change.

Nice... I vote that 2+2=5. Can we also vote that Adultry is not wrong? I mean, Jesus said whoever looks lustfully upon another has already committed adultry-- that view is not longer valid in this day and age, its impossible not to be confronted with things that cause such thoughts. While we're at it, let's vote that God is a Quadrinity too, Father, Son, Holy Spirit and Jesus --- After all, if it makes more sense to the Human mind, it must be true.

Women cannot be priests -- let alone Bishops any more than I can become pregnant with a Child. The asbsurdity of this event should remind us that there are certain SPRITUAL realities which underly such decision, and that as God did not give MEN the capacity to bear children, he also did not give Women the capacity to become Priests (that is to turn bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus). Just as men must accept that they cannot bear children, we need to accept that women cannot be Priests and/or Bishops. Its not harsh, its just recognizing realities of the spiritual realm.

First Church of the Secularist

I had an idea today--- it was to start a new "Church" -- not to break away from the Catholic Church by any means, but to begin the key attack on secularism - and that is to make sure that all are aware that SECULARISM IS A RELIGION!!! So, I thought we could open the First Church of the Secularist, or First Secularist Church, we would put signs up all over town with a phone number (and I guarantee many would call!). The thing is, all you'd have to do is buy a building and put a sign on the front-- there would never need to be any services, the building would be open for people to come in and do whatever they please in there and that's it. That's what secularism is, a nothingness and emptyness-- but it is a NOTHINGNESS that is being imposed on us in, of all places, the PUBLIC SPHERE. So, those avowed "secularist" need a place to worship at the altar of nothingness--- they need their own Church building so that as the Court's review these absurd attacks on Religion in the public sphere, it is OBVIOUS that those attacking are zealots themselves for the Religion of Secularism.
