gosh i really need to update

Wednesday, March 16, 2005

ah yes, once again i have escaped to the comforts of panera bread. wow, it was great reading all of your replies! makes me feel warm and fuzzy. we just got done with mid-terms and now we are heading into a thing called the Bible conference. it starts tonight with a service at 7pm, then at 8pm. BACK TO BACK. i mean, i'm all for hearing the Word preached, but c'mon...THEN tomorrow again at 8am and 9am, then 12pm, then 7pm, then again at 8pm. FIVE SERVICES!!! AHHHHHH!!! even God will get tired of that! ahahahaha...then we get it again on friday!!! OH THE JOY OF HEARING GOD'S WORD BEATEN TO DEATH INTO THE EARS AND UPON THE SOULS OF CONTEMPTABLE COLLEGE STUDENTS!!! VERY EDIFYING AND EFFECTIVE!!! honestly, all it does is keep us away from spring break, spring fling, spring bling, whatever you wanna call it. it's interesting to note that the weekend after Bible conference, the campus is EMPTY. hmmm...think it's college students reading their Bibles at the beach? possibly...maybe...probably...well, there is an interesting thing to note. there is a change occuring here on campus. two wednesdays ago we had an "enrichment conference" where they bring this one song leader once a year to lead this revival service. he led us in hymns and such, then busted out all these choruses. the last chorus was ABOVE ALL. oh snap...my skin began to tingle. wow, this DEMONIC music allowed in this sacred place of GOD!!?? NO WAY!!! RIGHT ON!!! (sarcasm, contemporary christian music is not demonic, no matter how much a fundamental independent baptist preacher stuck back in the 1950's with a comb over wants to tell you it is). the next day, that was the BIG news on campus. some students were FURIOUS!!! there were arguments EVERYWHERE. basically it was contemporary christians VERSUS fundamental baptists. i even got in an arguement with a guy at work over it. he kept saying "the world uses the same music that "christians" are using as a ministry. christian musicians EVEN LOOK LIKE THE WORLD. with their long hair, they are a TERRIBLE testimony of Jesus Christ." it was nasty. i had to represent. i couldn't let him keep talking smack, i tried to hold my tongue, but i lashed out "HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU GONNA REACH A WORLD LIVING IN 2005 WITH A MINISTRY STUCK IN 1950???!!!! go ahead, keep your suit and comb over and penny loafers and perfectly shaved face and kjv Bible and hymns. no wonder your churches are built to hold 1000 people, yet you only have 20 in attendence!!! THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH (Romans 1:16-17)!!! NOT BY THE LENGTH OF THEIR HAIR!!!" the room got quiet. i'm usually quiet at work, but this guy was being foolish. he still doesn't talk to me. fine. but i pray for him and his mentality...i come home in mid-may. can't wait to see you guys. i'm still going into ministry, i'm still serving God, i'm still learning, still living, still making friends along the way that feel the same way that i do. hope you all are doing well. i'll update when i can. i miss you guys a lot. don't doubt that at all. just an update on my life so far:

still single (holla!), playing softball with my collegian, going to be a student manager next semester of our four winds dining hall, studying hard, especially Romans, still single, my brother's birthday is today, holla at him and show some love, on the dean's list, hmmm...that's about all...this is a long entry, if you've read this far, you deserve a prize, let me know if you have, i'll probably hook you up with something from florida...peace and love from our dear Lord above who died for all people, even christians who read the NIV translation of the Bible, and praise God FREELY...

GUESS WHO GOT THE

DUN DUN!

Saturday, February 05, 2005

so i'm gone from my beloved home of washington, and i'm dying for release. yes folks, this is solomon in pensacola florida. greetings, my buddy clive and i are at a little place called panera bread, where they have free wi-fi internet access. now, you all know that at pcc we have EXTREMELY limited internet access, so we decided to come here and check out what freedom feels like. it feels good, i hear we are getting a panera bread in washington sometime soon. that's awesome, this place makes starbucks look SAD...f'real. well school's good, work's good, life's good, and God is good...still on my quest to find my soul mate here, since everyone at this school feels that they are brought here by divine intervention from Jehovah Jireh to find their soul mate, so i'm on the lookout, no luck as of late, but you never know. hopefully you all are doing well and keeping out of trouble. keep seeking God and he will use you mightily. i miss the days of partaking in satanic rituals such as playing the guitar for the Lord, listening to CCM music, reading the NIV bible, and being free in Jesus. according to Pharisee Concentration College all those activities are considered demonic and "straight from the pits of satan fire" we'll see. one day when we are all in front of the judgment seat, we'll see if we are condemned by the syncopated worldly rhythm christian music we listened to, or the translation of the bible that we read... ;) keep strong in Jesus, praise him freely, read his word, and throw your life upon Him...and have a great day.

from pensacola with love and kisses and lots of palm trees,

solomon
