Hey Everyone!  Long time no update.  I know I've neglected this, but college is so time consuming!  I have halfway exciting news:  over KU's fall break, I recorded a new song, tentatively titled "22" because its the number in which it was written.  I'm so creative, aren't I?  I've tried to think of a name, but nothing good comes to mind.  It's way different from what I've already done, and that was the point:  to go where I couldn't before.  It was completely out of genre for me, and it was recorded on completely different gear from what I used on Third Degree Burn Of Memory, so it is different all the way to the core.  If you'd like to hear it, I can show you.  Just send me an IM over AOL (sn DD2K4), and I'd be more than happy to show you something I'm totally proud of.  Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

Wow it's been a long time since I've updated this thing.  I thought I was busy during the summer;  I had no idea I would be this active.  Things are going great as far as school and work are going.  Hope to see all of you soon.

Hey everyone!  It's been way to long since I've updated, but give me a chance to explain myself.  Third Degree Burn of Memory came out on the 14th of June, and ever since then I've been going non-stop trying to promote it.  So far it has done WAY better than I ever thought it would, and I'm almost sold out of my first shipment of CD's. I'm simply overwhelmed by the response it has gotten. In the days leading up to the release, I plastered LV with posters, so I've done a lot of hardwork in the down time waiting for the cd's to get back.  I want to thank you all who have purchased the CD for your support.  It means way more to me than you can imagine.  As for potential leads, I have given a copy to one of the DJ's at 96.5 the buzz, Jeriney.  She liked "Paralyzed" and wanted to hear the full album, so I delivered her a copy last Sunday.  As far as labels go, I've got one sent to a woman that I know at Interscope records who does Artist Relations.  I do not expect anything to happen, but it is certainly worth a try.  Oh the album made front page news in the June 24th edition of the Leavenworth Times.  Everything is moving fast with it, so I'm trying to strike while the iron is hot.  Once Again, I thank you all.

In other news, Justin and I found an apartment in Lawrence.  It is two bedroom/1 bathroom and approx. 1100 square feet. It is really nice and I hope to make as close to home as I can.  Justin if you are reading this, we have 47 days until the good times roll, bud.

Looks like the Foo Fighters wrote a song for me.........

I’ve got another confession to make
I’m your fool
Everyone’s got their chains to break
Holdin’ you

Were you born to resist or be abused?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?

Are you gone and onto someone new?
I needed somewhere to hang my head
Without your noose
You gave me something that I didn’t have
But had no use
I was too weak to give in
Too strong to lose
My heart is under arrest again
But I break loose
My head is giving me life or death
But I can’t choose
I swear I’ll never give in
I refuse

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
You trust, you must
Confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Oh...

Oh...Oh...Oh...Oh...

Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
The life, the love
You've got to heal
The hope that starts
The broken hearts
You trust, you must
Confess

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?

I’ve got another confession my friend
I’m no fool
I’m getting tired of starting again
Somewhere new

Were you born to resist or be abused?
I swear I’ll never give in
I refuse

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
You trust, you must
Confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Oh...

I am psyched!  I've been so busy with stuff that updating my site was at the bottom of my to-do list.  The summer is here, and it couldn't have come at a better time.  I went to LHS Gradution yesterday, and it was weird seeing people younger than me move on into the real world.  It's hard to believe it's been a year since I graduated;  I can't make up my mind if it feels like an eternity, or if it feels like yesterday.  Jeff got back to town on Wednesday, and the Three Amigos Reunion is on in full force.  We all went to see Star Wars Episode 3 on its opening night, and it was amazing.  It's definitely one of the better movies I have seen of recent.  I started guitar lessons for the second time, and my instructor Brad is one of the baddest mofos of all time.  After first being mistaken as a brand newbie, I told him I'd been playing for awhile, and he promptly shifted gears into scales and improvisation.  Already I feel minor growth in my playing, and I can't wait to see how far I'll get before I move.  Speaking of moving, it's almost scary that in 3 months time I'll be a resident of Lawrence, Kansas.  It's not just a change in zip code, it's a change in life.  It will be like pushing a giant reset button for me, and I think thats just what I've been needing for a long time.  I'm wanting to turn some things around in my life, and Lawrence maybe the environment required for such a rebirth.  Until then, I'm going to relax and enjoy my summer; really, that's all I can do.

Revelations at the Driving Range:  For each shot at the driving range, whether spoken aloud or thought, dedicate each one to something in your life that has been plaguing/annoying you.  Jeff, Justin, and I exorcised some personal demons last night by using simple shoutouts with golf as the medium.  I have two witnesses that can attest that I hit the ball farther and straighter than I ever have before because of this amazing technique of channeling frustrations into a golf ball.

Oh and one last thing:  after setbacks with the artwork and sound files, Third Degree Burn of Memory  was sent off last Tuesday night. I will have it back between June 1st and June 8th.  Let the countdown begin

IT'S DONE! Third Degree Burn of Memory is completed!  It's been a long six months, but I can finally rest easy knowing that its ready for release.  It gets sent out on Tuesday, May 10th for reproduction at The Disk Faktory.  I should have the copies back by the week of May 24-May 31.  I finally feel like I can breathe now.  This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time, and Aaron and Dave did some amazing work to make this all possible.  Thank you all very much for your support throughout this whole process, and I hope you will enjoy. P.S.  If you ask nicely, you can preview the first single (LOL) "Paralyzed" by IM'ing me on AOL (sn: DD2k4).  Feel free to leave any comments, criticisms, etc. about what you will hear/have heard.

Track Listing

1. Paralyzed 2. I Confess 3. Hollow 4. Shift 5. Throwing Stones 6. Humor Me

In other news, school is almost done.  I've had so much to do the last few days that I've had very little time for anything else.  I'm going to start guitar lessons again with a speed metal guy down at the Toon Shop, because I want to work on my speed picking, sweeps, skipping, etc.  I think it's high time I change gears into something more aggressive, musically. I hope everyone else is having as good of a week as I am.

ttyl,

Darren
