So on the bus today I was talking to Kevin and my sisters..and we were talking about a certain person in my grade who was condoning marijuana use and that it should be legal, etc (which, btw, my history teacher convinced my whole class minus me of) And then Abby and Susannah were like, "Oh yeah, _____ is SUCH a jerk...he was saying how he loves to make fun of people who have facial deformities or have mental problems." and Susann said, "OH yeah and he was saying how he saw this guy with no ears and he only had tubes sticking out of his head..and how funny it was..and then both he and _____ CRACKED up" And then they proceeded to go on about the things that this kid had said about people who were born with birth defects or were missing limbs....and how he loved to make fun of them because he thought it was "Funny" and "These people deserve to be laughed at cuz they look so stupid"
And I just started crying. I couldn't believe how callous this kid is...I mean, he told me awhile ago that my sisters and I aren't accepted at Zion because we're from NJ. Which was absalutely ridiculous...all the Zion kids and teachers were SO accepting of us. Even Kevin was like, "Wow that kid is way off his rocker"
...so I was sitting on the bus crying over thinking about what this kid said about people with problems..my sisters and Kevin were all like "..are you okay????"
...And I wasn't. I just can't believe how someone like him can call himself a Christian and say things like that about people. It absalutely blows my mind. Like Mr. Boekestein said--even GOING to Zion Christian we're taking Christ's name upon us--and I know I don't live up to that standard myself, but to blatantly make fun of another human being created in God's image who has facial or mental problems that he can't help is absalutely repulsive. That's what Hitler's mentality was..that's what Stalin's mentality was. And yeah, I know most kids out in the world do that kinda stuff, but they're not claiming to be Christians.
It just made me so sad and angry. On top of that I"m sick of arguing my history teacher about things like the legalization of marijuana..this is supposed to be a CHRISTIAN school, isn't it?!?! And I'm the only one saying anything--everyone else sides with him because they know if they don't he'll shoot down all their arguments. My teacher made me look totally dumb, because he's so good at arguing and I get confused..but I know what I believe..and its just really frustrating to me the views and ideas of people at this school.
Anyway...
its the weekend, so maybe I should be happy. agggh
